Jan & Feb 2017: Tidewater condo #1405 and Four Star Management Company

"The condo was exceptionally clean, which was greatly appreciated! The owners have provided many extras and the unit is nicely decorated with lots of cute personal touches. The kitchen was well stocked, but could use some new sharp knives. The bed in the master bedroom was really comfortable. Although there is a huge walk in closet it would have been nice to have a lot more dresser drawers for the clothing you don't hang up. The Wi-Fi was terrible, constantly lost the connection. This was not a good situation since my husband works from home. We had told Four Star Management Company the importance of a good connection prior to signing the rental agreement; we were assured of a strong connection. Then when we advised Four Star of the issue they offered no solution. They told us the problem was because the modem was outside the condo somewhere in the hall. The previous mentioned items would be more important to long term renters. The elevators are not a problem in the off season. It is true there is a storm water runoff drainage spewing into the ocean in front of the resort, but there are several of these near other resorts as well. Recently, Tidewater Resort implemented a new wrist band which must be worn at all times when using the amenities. It's like a hospital ID band, once it is snapped on, it cannot be taken off unless you cut it off. Fortunately, for winter renters it was not stringently enforced, but come high rental time we were told it will be. Also, the condo’s published monthly rental rate shown for Jan. 2018 has gone up $380 from what we paid this year. Since the 2 outdoor pools are never heated, the outdoor cafe and the small convenience store are closed during winter months; I am not sure what constitutes this large rent increase. I suppose it’s a matter of whatever the market will bear and the people will pay. Overall, our time here was comfortable and pleasant. We love that the entire resort is non-smoking, but we will be moving onto to another resort next year, into a larger unit that is even less expensive then this years. Note: Four Star Management Company has changed their cancellation policy from what it was when we signed the rental agreement for this condo. Being Snowbirds of a certain age a more lenient cancellation policy is a must."
