  • Thanksgiving Holiday on the Beach

"We had a lovely time at this house on the beach. What sold us on the house was the breathtaking views of the beach. The 2nd floor which is the main living area is beautiful and large enough to accommodate our large family. While the house is a little older than most in the area - the accommodations are still quite lovely. A couple of mishaps were handled by the owner's agent in a timely and professional manner. The property was very clean upon arrival and the pool and yard maintenance was updated while we were there. A lovely area - would definitely return."

  • heaven for the old and young

"We came down for a two-week working retreat with two kids (age 7 months and 2 years) and two Russian grandmas. The grandmas got into a rented minivan at the airport and refused to get back into the minivan until it was time to depart. They walked in the neighborhood, walked on the beach, or relaxed by the pool and were perfectly happy. (In fact they are ready any time to abandon Massachusetts for Florida!) If you want to be in this part of Florida this is a rare spot of single family beachfront homes that don't back right up to the busy A1A highway. Neighboring newly constructed beachfront houses are selling for $8 million and seeing a Ferrari parked out front is not uncommon. This house is an easy walk to a great fish taco place, a fantastic BBQ restaurant (Smoke), and a nice Greek place. You can also enjoy a 1-mile walk to Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, which has ice cream shops, bars, etc. Walk along the sand or on a not-busy road separated from the beach by the towers of Galt Ocean Mile. There is a 24-hour Walgreens a three-minute walk away. It is about a 5-minute drive to Rt. 1 and every possible chain store (Whole Foods, Target, Chick fil-A, AMC movie theater, etc.). The beach area in front of the house does get kind of busy because it is right next to the public access path. Don't expect solitude, especially on a nice-weather weekend day. The kitchen is complete, but hold the onions, fish, and garlic. There is no range hood, there are no windows that open, and there are no screens for the doors. Thus the only way to ventilate the house without letting flies in (there aren't too many but enough that you can't just leave doors open all day) is to turn on all of the bathroom exhaust fans. There is a Brinkmann gas grill ($130 at Home Depot?) outside, but it isn't large enough to cook a complete meal for an extended family. The Internet is super fast, which was great for working. There is a public bike share location two blocks away (at A1A) but the traffic is too intense on most of the streets in South Florida to enjoy recreational biking (too bad because the terrain and weather are perfect!). Certainly a bike is fun for a few miles around the neighborhood and up and down the Galt Ocean Mile. Mirtha is nice and also responsive. Book soon because if the climate change alarmists are right this house will be reclaimed by the sea soon!"

  • Great place and a great location

"My girlfriend and I were looking for a place for a quick girls getaway and this place was perfect. The view is breathtaking and the pictures were exactly as the place is. Everything you need is right at/in the condo. We went and bought groceries but I wished we hadn't. There is a nice little coffee shop in the lobby and McDonalds and stores and restaurants were in walking distance. We rented a car but really didn't need it. They do charge $8 a day for valet parking so you have to add that to the price of the car. The condo was clean and had everything we needed..dishes, towels, pillows and most any necessity you would need. We went during the week and the pool and the beach were both open and not to crowded. There is a fun Tiki bar right out on the beach and the employees were very friendly and the food was so good!!! We loved the place and hope to go back next year. The owner Terry was very easy to work with and everything was just as he said it was. My ONLY complaint..and it's not really a complaint but the place was described as sleeping for people but that would really be 2 adults or two adults and 2 kids. There is a bed and a pull out futon. We almost had 4 girls and we would never had made it with four adults in there sleeping and trying to get ready to go out. All and all it was a great place and we had a great time!!🐙💛🍔🐦"

  • Beach wedding

"Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Pelican Grand over the Thanksgiving holiday. We were in Fort Lauderdale for my sister's destination wedding. This unit was exactly as advertised. Wonderful ocean view & use of all of the resort amenities without paying the daily resort fee. We loved having a roomy refrigerator, microwave, and toaster for making breakfast and lunch in the room. This certainly helped save money on dining out for every meal. Room was large enough to accommodate two adults and our two daughters, ages 19 and 16. Excellent dining at Steak 954 and Shooters while we were there. Enjoyed a parasailing trip run by Aloha Watersports at the Marriott. If we return to Fort Lauderdale, I would definitely rent this unit again."
