  • Great price and location!

"The apartment is VERY well-located. It was quite small for a family and it's dated, although almost everything was functioning properly. It has a good kitchen with plenty of utensils. The pool area was very nice. The ocean was right next to the pool. You can see the ocean from every window! The beach chairs and umbrellas were also a big bonus. The price was also very good, especially for the great oceanfront location on Ocean Dr. The landlord always responds very quickly and was very nice! The apartment had a lot of towels and bedlinnens, which was great. The availability of washing machines and dryers was also very convenient. Downsides: AC is very loud, but does work very well. As was already known to us, there is no parking available, and south beach parking is very expensive and difficult. We used the garage on 7 and Collins which was the cheapest nearby. If you just go for the beach you won't need a car, but if you want to explore Miami, outlet malls and maybe the Keys a car is a must. Everytime we cooked, the smoke alarm would go off, because you could only open one window and the hood(?) was out of order. There also were a lot of bugs that somehow came in at night, once even a massive roach, eventhough we kept everything clean and we threw out the trash multiple times a day. The bathroom has a very loud ventilator which turns on automatically with the light. It still gets vert humid in there after a shower. All and all it is a very good deal and we really enjoyed our stay. We would recommend staying here, keeping in mind the downsides (especially parking and the fact that it's dated). You just can't beat the location and price!"

  • Peaceful, clean and private...amazing place

"Do not hesitate to book this rental. It was immaculately clean and comfortable. I will definitely be contacting Joe again next time I need a place to relax when in Miami."

  • heaven for the old and young

"We came down for a two-week working retreat with two kids (age 7 months and 2 years) and two Russian grandmas. The grandmas got into a rented minivan at the airport and refused to get back into the minivan until it was time to depart. They walked in the neighborhood, walked on the beach, or relaxed by the pool and were perfectly happy. (In fact they are ready any time to abandon Massachusetts for Florida!) If you want to be in this part of Florida this is a rare spot of single family beachfront homes that don't back right up to the busy A1A highway. Neighboring newly constructed beachfront houses are selling for $8 million and seeing a Ferrari parked out front is not uncommon. This house is an easy walk to a great fish taco place, a fantastic BBQ restaurant (Smoke), and a nice Greek place. You can also enjoy a 1-mile walk to Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, which has ice cream shops, bars, etc. Walk along the sand or on a not-busy road separated from the beach by the towers of Galt Ocean Mile. There is a 24-hour Walgreens a three-minute walk away. It is about a 5-minute drive to Rt. 1 and every possible chain store (Whole Foods, Target, Chick fil-A, AMC movie theater, etc.). The beach area in front of the house does get kind of busy because it is right next to the public access path. Don't expect solitude, especially on a nice-weather weekend day. The kitchen is complete, but hold the onions, fish, and garlic. There is no range hood, there are no windows that open, and there are no screens for the doors. Thus the only way to ventilate the house without letting flies in (there aren't too many but enough that you can't just leave doors open all day) is to turn on all of the bathroom exhaust fans. There is a Brinkmann gas grill ($130 at Home Depot?) outside, but it isn't large enough to cook a complete meal for an extended family. The Internet is super fast, which was great for working. There is a public bike share location two blocks away (at A1A) but the traffic is too intense on most of the streets in South Florida to enjoy recreational biking (too bad because the terrain and weather are perfect!). Certainly a bike is fun for a few miles around the neighborhood and up and down the Galt Ocean Mile. Mirtha is nice and also responsive. Book soon because if the climate change alarmists are right this house will be reclaimed by the sea soon!"

  • An excellent location on Key Biscayne

"Key Biscayne is very densely populated with expensive homes and enormous high rise condos and apartments. This little gem is a one bedroom in a renovated older two story building ["Governor's Lodge"] on Sunrise Drive tucked away with other good properties only 100 yards or so from the beach and about 250 yards from shopping and excellent restaurants. The rooms are well furnished in South Florida style, comfortably understated in decor, and ample amenities, utensils, dishes and all you would expect. It was very comfortable and even cozy in the January rains and cooler temperatures. Note too that it has excellent air conditioning when needed. You can walk the whole island including top-rated Crandon Park and Beach and Bill Bagg Park where we saw manatees, other wildlife, excellent views of Biscayne Bay and the lighthouse. We will return."
