"We arrived late 9 pm after 7 hour driver and were quite tired. The valet parking (free) was nice.
The Casablanca is an old building and shows its age. The especially the corridors, elevators, unit doors. The condo itself is small, nice, clean with a breathtaking view from large balcony overlooking the ocean and pool.
The place was very clean with towels, toilette paper and box of tissue, two bar soaps, but only 1 travel size shampoo (2 people 3 days not enough) This did no bother us as we were prepared and brought our own but I mention it just in case people expect toiletries.
we did not cook so I cannot comment on the cookware (we were looking for a pair of scissor and found none).
The bathroom is small and could have used a couple of extra shelves. The fan was very loud and could be heard in the room with the door closed. May be a problem in the middle of the night.
Lights are very harsh. The huge balcony was a pleasant surprise, however is right next to the unit next door so we could see inside. The next door neighbor did not use curtains so at time we were feeling a bit uncomfortable sitting in the terrace. Also there was only one usable lounge chair, the other was old and ripped. Having 2 lounge chairs would have be nicer. The same for the beach chairs. We only saw two.
The studio efficiency is OK for 2 perhaps 3 people - There is a futon that takes a lot of room if there are no additional guests since TV is above it cannot be used to watch TV.
The owner contacted us and seemed really concerned about the couple items we reported missing and offered to come by and fix it, but we declined. The annoying part was the very slow internet (wide open w/o a password) that is used by the whole complex.
The location is across the street from a 7-11. The first night we walked looking for a place to eat. I wish the hostess had left some information on the area. This was our first time in Miami Beach so some suggestions would have helped. the 2nd and 3rd night we found some nice restaurants about 1 mile South and 1 mile North. There is also a Publix grocery store about the same distance. There is a small bar inside the complex which is expensive .. (even for Washington DC standard ). The heated pool was nice and well maintained. A gas station (7-11) across the street is very useful to gas up. Overall is was an OK experience."
