  • Pure Paradise!

"We had the pleasure of spending two weeks at Shady Palms. The accommodations were exemplary. The house is gorgeous, impeccably decorated, and immaculately clean with all the comforts of home! We will never forget opening the front door upon our arrival and seeing the breathtaking view of the beach from the front room. The shady backyard was such a welcome relief from a day at the beach. Cindy, the owner, has thought of everything to make your stay a memorable one. The home is conveniently located within walking distance of great restaurants and shops. We can't wait to return and highly recommend a visit. Bill & Rose Jessup, MD"

  • nice little place!

"The apartment is right across private beach which made it super wonderful. The bus stop is around the front of the building so easy access to the island on the free shuttle which takes you from one end to the other end of the Island. We were able to walk just blocks to all the restaurants and little shops, etc. At the north end of the island was our favorite ice cream place and the pier was nice. There's a little sitting/viewing area around to the right of the apartment, very nice to watch sunsets. Overall we loved the island and you don't need a car if staying on the island. The apartment is nice and comfortable. We needed to buy a small blender for morning shakes as there was none. Our daughters bed was broken but functional and worked out. The reason for the 4 stars mainly is there is no WiFi. That was crucial for us and I had confirmed that there would be. There was nothing, and it was crucial for my husband to do Buisiness. The clubhouse had none either. We even tried to see how we can purchase it, apparently they go through flamingo services band not all works well. That was very frustrating for my husband, he ended up going to the library on the shuttle when he needed access. Carol was easy to communicate with and responded promptly always. The WiFi would make it us not able to stay there again. Other than that if you don't need WiFi access you would very well enjoy this place the pool is a skip away and on the way to the beach."

  • Very nice rental

"We stayed here for a week with our four children and our grandchildren and really appreciated the roominess of this house. The two separate living room/ bedroom /kitchen area is great for those who are looking for a quiet place away from the group and it is also nice for little ones who need to nap during the day. The beach is beautiful and is just a 3 minute walk from the house and having the pool with little ones is also a bonus! This is a very nice, clean, well equipped house with lots of towels and beach towels. Your house is lovely and we appreciated being able to rent your home!"

  • Exceptional Florida Beach home

"WOW! I signed in to rave about our stay at this beautiful cottage and saw the verbiage of the last person rating this home. They were there the week prior to our arrival. We arrived March 13 and I’m shocked and puzzled to see their comments. Our experience was no where near the dismal explanation of their stay and experience. We loved the sophistication and the charm of this elegant cottage. It is decorated with antiques and Persian rugs that are antique, but not in need of repair or replacement. It is the decorating that gives this cottage a charm of days gone past. The wood paneled ceiling was charming and not your usual white on white new beach house that is common and not what we wanted for our vacation. We did not smell any “urine” odors and we found the cottage extremely clean with crisp linens upon arrival. We especially loved the bath sheets the owner provided instead of the usual bath towels. The spreads were not in need of replacement as stated and we were extremely pleased with the home. The grounds were not in need of upkeep. We were having such an amazing time on the beach and around the pool, we did not have time to truly inspect the details of the landscaping, but the grounds were in no way impeding our enjoyment of our vacation. The “wooden shutters” that the prior occupant describes are “Bahama shutters” that are there for protection from hurricanes in the front bedroom and on one side of the home. They certainly are typical to Florida for style and era. I’m certain that this person has minimal experience with homes on Anna Maria that are outfitted with the style of shutters on older homes. The shutters in no way distracted from our stay and provided extra privacy. The pool cover edges were slightly disintegrated, but in no way interfered with our enjoyment of the large heated pool. We have rented other villas in the past with “heated” pools, and this home truly does have a heated pool. Most don’t get up to the comfortable temperature of this pool. The toilet seat in one bathroom had some scratches on the paint of the seat, but in no way was in need of replacing. The grounds had a few weeds, but the trees and the flowers were gorgeous. This home is privately fenced and provides amazing privacy for our family, especially from the pool area. The beach view is a few steps to the gate and once you open the gate, “VOILA” you see the gorgeous beach. Jana was an extremely helpful hostess and I just don’t understand the comments about her"
