  • Best POOL home w/BEACH proximity

    "Cathy & I enjoyed our stay at Desert Rose. The home is amazing, well maintained & beautifully decorated. The beds are comfortable and the space is huge. The outside area is a great place to relax and enjoy time, any time of the day or night. The screened in lanai keeps out the critters and the bugs at bay. The BEACH!!! The BEST PART for our experience was the provided BEACH CART which allowed us to haul all our gear with little effort to the beach. The beach itself is an excellent area which is only 2 blocks away, or actually 7 houses from the driveway!!!  The beach has direct access at the end of the street. No need to go ‘down the way’ to get to the beach. Just walked out – onto the sand *with a foot wash right there* and enjoy the water immediately. Our 9# MinPin, Leo, enjoyed the stay. The walks along the neighborhood and up and down the beach in search of Gulf/Ocean treasures left by the gentle waves is something he misses dearly (as do we). Being that we live on the East Coast near the ocean, we don’t have a local area where dogs are permitted to be on the beach. KEEP IN MIND, Dogs ARE allowed on LEE County beaches, as long as they are on a leash (and bring a bag in case (s)he does their business). With Publix close by, it was GREAT to get to Desert Rose without a lot of food baggage to haul. We went next door and stocked up our NEST with supplies and stock. There is a GREAT kitchen with about EVERYTHING you’d need there for your use. The LEMON/CITRUS press there was magnificent, once I googled how to use it.  The POOL is EXCELLENT in being so clean and refreshing (AND HEATED TOO!!!). The deck area around the pool is greatly decorated and relaxing to enjoy. We were surprised to learned that the owner lives on-site (as the live-in Super, as he said it) in a ground floor addition, but once we realized we had privacy and seclusion at the home, it was relaxing and enjoyable. We DID miss the performance Skip does at a local establishment Sunday morning, but look forward to watching him play his music on our next visit. **Oh, did I tell you? We BOOKED our NEXT vacation in November, before we left for home to the East Coast. Thank You Skip, for sharing your home with us on our bi-annual vacations in 2016. PEACE & Be Safe"

  • Wonderful

    "Beautiful, impeccably maintained home in a quiet golf community. I golfed every day (numerous courses within 5 minutes) while my wife enjoyed the heated pool. Grocery stores and drug stores are close while other shopping and malls are within 10 minutes. I cannot remember a more enjoyable vacation. The only problem I have is that my wife wants to move to the neighborhood. Thank you to the owner, Dave King, as well as the sweet neighbors who actually came over to apologize for some work being done by a contractor and the accompanying noise. My wife and I wouldn't hesitate to rent the home again."

  • Great House worth Renting for Families

    "This house was great for us. It was 2 couples and 2 toddlers. The walk in closets in two of the rooms (3rd floor master and 2 floor room) had more than enough room for pack'n'plays for the infants. It was also nice that each room had a King bed and its own bathroom. We were able to get by with one gate on the main/2nd floor to keep the kids off the stairs and only needed a few outlet covers. We could have easily had a third couple as well. The bedroom on the 2nd floor has an entrance area to the bedroom with 2 bunk beds that we didn't use, but were nice if we needed. The place was fully stocked with beach and kitchen supplies and was great. The two fridge/freezers and the two sets of washers and dryers helped us immensely. The walk to the beach with two toddlers and all the needed beach equipment was a bit much; it's a good 10 minutes. We adjusted by one of the dads getting up early and parking an SUV with all the beach equipment by the public access and using it as a storage unit for the day. That helped a lot. The pool was great and well shaded most of the day. I would recommend the place for any families or even someone with bad hips/knees who might need an elevator."

  • Best time EVER!

    "My wife and I went to LGI with the sole purpose of looking at available real estate for sale. We rent this house (8918 Gulf St.) due to the lower cost, assumably because it was not beach front. Let me tell you, the beach is a measly one minute beautiful walk over a sandy trail, and your dock is even closer. It is a very narrow section of the island. The island is a step back in time and absolutely perfect. No cars, no crowds, just paradise! As for the rental itself, absolutely perfect for what we were looking for. The price was very reasonable and the owner, Tim, was very easy to work with while I was planning for the trip. No email went unanswered - I would say never more than 30 minutes and I was hearing back from him. If that didn't work, I could have called him but I never needed to. The house is fully functional and I believe Tim is looking to do some updating this summer. If you're planning a trip and you want a nice place at a great price I'd consider this one for sure. We will be back!!"
