  • Wish we could have stayed longer!!

"This was our first time staying at LGI and our family of four (8yo & 4yo) loved every moment of it!! Tom was always very quick to respond when planning our visit and at one point during our stay when we needed to reach him. We chose the villa because it included the dock for our boat as well as a golf cart to explore the island. Even though the beach and the docks were within walking distance we all had so much fun on the golf cart. We went out on our boat fishing everyday and saw lots of dolphins, manatees, stingrays and even sharks. One afternoon while we were at the beach a manatee came right up to us and a group of people allowing us to pet it. It literally kept bumping into us and sticking its nose out to check us all out. Our kids will forever have this special memory! It was the coolest thing ever! The villa wasn't anything fancy but we weren't looking for fancy. It had everything we needed and there were even some spices and condiments left from previous guests which came in handy. We didn't really watch TV but there were several DVDs, there was also a nice selection of board games in the guest closet which we did use during the afternoon thunderstorms. If I had to think of anything negative I would say that the master bedroom mattress was too firm for me but that's just my personal preference. By the end of each day we were so worn out that it didn't really matter. We took this trip to get away from everyday stresses and just enjoy nature as a family and we did just that. We made so many family memories and already want to go back!!"

  • Coconut Hideaway-The Perfect Getaway!

"My wife, myself and our Golden Retriever were at Coconut Hideaway from August 14-21. We had a thoroughly enjoyable time and will be making plans to come back next year. Having been in real estate and property management in South Florida for over 40 years, we were very impressed by the level of detail provided for everything you could possibly need-groceries, boat rentals, local sites, things to do, etc. Coconut Hideaway is different from most rentals in that it has a warm home-like feel rather than the sterile vanilla decor that is typical. It actually feels like you're home on your own private beach. This time of year there were few people on the beach and those we met were very friendly and welcoming. The patio was excellent for reading, relaxing and watching the magnificent sunsets. Many times we saw dolphins swimming by and pelicans diving for their meals. A perfect getaway that we would highly recommend."

  • Best time EVER!

"My wife and I went to LGI with the sole purpose of looking at available real estate for sale. We rent this house (8918 Gulf St.) due to the lower cost, assumably because it was not beach front. Let me tell you, the beach is a measly one minute beautiful walk over a sandy trail, and your dock is even closer. It is a very narrow section of the island. The island is a step back in time and absolutely perfect. No cars, no crowds, just paradise! As for the rental itself, absolutely perfect for what we were looking for. The price was very reasonable and the owner, Tim, was very easy to work with while I was planning for the trip. No email went unanswered - I would say never more than 30 minutes and I was hearing back from him. If that didn't work, I could have called him but I never needed to. The house is fully functional and I believe Tim is looking to do some updating this summer. If you're planning a trip and you want a nice place at a great price I'd consider this one for sure. We will be back!!"

  • Beach time sunrise to sunset!

"What a wonderful vacation in such an amazing home. Beach time is great because you could always hang out in the shade of the house if it gets too hot. The Gulf is nice and calm most of the time, so you don't really need a pool to just chill out in the water. The house is stocked with all the kitchen necessities, plenty of towels, linens, pillows, games, crayons, binoculars, sand toys, floats, kiddie inflatable pool, bait net, etc. The house has cable TV with plenty of HD channels. Wifi and a golf cart was included which was nice for the times when we needed something to do. There is also the preserve close by. We went on a walk on the path through there a couple times which was nice. The only part of the vacation that was a bit stressful was the water taxi. The captains aren't very hospitable so just ignore their grouchiness when booking a pick up (make sure you schedule a week ahead of time). We had never had a vacation like this so packing was interesting, grocery shopping was tough and loading onto the water taxi could have been better coordinated. My advise to newbies... When the reviews say "pack light", that means don't pack anything you think the house won't have, because it will. We didn't need extra trash bags, towels or toys (for toddler) since there was plenty there. And we brought WAY too many clothes. There is a washer and dryer in the house so for the 8 days we literally did not wear anything more that 2 or 3 bathing suits, 1 pair of sandals, 2 sets of PJs, a couple of cover ups (or T's for the guys), a hat and that's it! Since we are now experienced with the water taxi, next time we will just do a better job of packing less and combining bags as much as possible for groceries. Overall, we had such a great time doing nothing all week. Thanks Sari and Glen!"
