  • This may be THE ideal vacation rental place!

"We rented the Hideaway Bay home for the month of January, 2016 and it was spectacular! The house could not be more completely appointed - from the gourmet kitchen with every imaginable device, tool, gadget, and appliance (including a really nice espresso/cappucino maker) -- to the pool, pool table, bicycles, HDTV, Xbox 306 game console, dock, canoe, fishing and beach gear -- it really was even better than advertised! We never even took advantage of the tennis courts, basketball hoop, dart board or ping pong table! As lovely as all the photos are on the VRBO website, they do not begin to do justice to how nice this home really is. The decor throughout the home was impeccable. Eric and Barb have gone to great lengths to see that your every need is met. This even includes labels on light switches (there are lots!!!) and in the kitchen pantry to help you find and store all the great cookware! There is a great large gas grill poolside too, which worked great! We have already booked another month for next season."

  • Lovely condo in a quiet well maintained condo association

"My wife and I spent March, 2016 in this unit. The condo is very clean and exactly as represented in the photos. The kitchen is well stocked with nice dishes and high quality cookware. King bed is very comfortable. We didn't use the murphy bed but if you need to it can be partitioned off for privacy. Air conditioning worked well. Nicely heated pool right out your backdoor. Association's private gulf beach is about a 3 minute walk and beach chairs are already there so you don't have to carry with you. There is a bike/hike path that runs the entire length of Longboat Key. There are two restaurants (including the very nice Bayou Bar) within a 10 minute walk and numerous others within a 10 minute drive. The main supermarket is a great Publix about a 10 to 15 minute drive and there are a couple of convenience stores closer. Cell phone coverage on Longboat Key can be iffy at times- regardless of carrier- but the condo has a land-line if need be. Owners are very responsive. This is a great place to stay."

  • Couldn't Have Picked a Better Location

"We chose this location based on being pet friendly, close to the beach and pricing. All of the great reviews didn't hurt either. The place was spot on as advertised. Beach feel without being right on it. Only a 5 minute walk from door step to a very nice beach. Location couldn't have been better with several fantastic restaurants, a very nice convenience store, a deli and a beautiful park all within several blocks. If one cares to drive to the top of Anna Maria or the bottom of Longboat one can find some of the best seafood you'll ever experience. All of these great amenities without the tourist crowd or feel. There is a Publix supermarket 10 min South. MOTE Marine Aquarium is 15 min South and Saint Armand's Circle (a wonderful collection of high end shops) another 5 after that. Lido Beach, one of the best in the world, is just around the corner from Saint Armand's. Back on point, the cottage is absolutely perfect. Large enough kitchen amply supplied, dishwasher, hard wood floors, cable, great WiFi, an indoor as well as an outdoor shower, a nice deck, laundry and covered parking. There is also a charcoal grill for the outdoor cooking enthusiast. If you're looking for a peaceful getaway look no further. Also, The property manager is a real gem. As prompt, attentive and professional as they come. If I owned rental property in the area I wouldn't think of listing with anyone else. He made the experience all the more enjoyable with his attention to detail and his first hand knowledge of the area. You cannot go wrong here. We look forward to another visit. NOTE: Middle of August through September there are several local businesses that close to rest up from the busy season. If you book during these times you may have to drive a few miles further for certain things. I wouldn't consider this a deal breaker by any means; just a potential minor inconvenience."

  • Lovely experience

"I never write reviews, but have decided to do so in this case because the owner is so terrific. The unit was perfect for me (I stayed a month)--well kept and very well outfitted (beach umbrellas, cooler, beach towels, to name a few) in a small complex that overall felt very comfortable. If you are a dog owner you'll be especially pleased-- the unit is complete with pillows for your dog to lounge on! I didn't have a car, so the location was also perfect; I could walk across the street to the beach, around the corner to the grocery store, pharmacy or tennis, or catch a bus into town. Joan, the owner, was fantastic-- so important in renting. She helped me find a dog sitter when I had to travel. She always responded quickly with information. And when I accidentally ruined a stove top burner, she was very fair-- charging me only $25 from my security deposit (the remainder of which was returned very promptly.) The only reason I didn't give the property five stars is because it fronts a busy road. For me, this wasn't a big deal-- I got used to it very quickly. And besides, when you're from Minnesota you'll take a little road noise any day in exchange for being able to sit out on a screened-in porch in January and watch the sunset over the ocean. I'd like to thank Joan for a very lovely time."
