  • Didn't Want to Leave

"I have been coming to Engelwood Beach for the past 10 years and have stayed at Barefoot Beach the last 3 visits. This was our first year to stay in this unit and we absolutely LOVED it!! My family of 11 was able to stay in 2 units side by side and loved waking up to the view and being able to go sit out and watch the dolphins while drinking coffee/eating breakfast. I love how the condo is within a comfortable walking distance to the circle where you have access to a convenience store, several gift shops, and a variety of restaurants. We love Flounders, Lock 'N Key, and Gulf View Grill. Flounders has great live music and a great beach and bay view. We also love Karaoke at White Elephant on Sundays/Wednesdays. It's just a short drive into town to get to larger grocery stores/shops/restaurants...we love Farlow's on the bay and usually make our way to A Better Scoop Ice Cream Shop : ) If you're into antiquing and shopping there's plenty for you, but we come to lay on the beach so we don't venture out much during the day! Another bonus with this barefoot beach unit is the garage storage that has chairs, beach toys, etc. We love being able to come and not have to buy all new stuff since we fly and can't bring it all with us. Since we are repeat visitors it's also nice to know that if we do end up buying something and leaving it that it is going to be available for other families to use and not disposed of! This year was a record year for us for viewing wildlife!! We saw Dolphin every morning and several throughout the day, we saw small sting rays up near the beach and large sting rays jumping out of the ocean further out...we saw baby sharks, had several manatee come pretty close to our group, saw 2 sea horse, and quite a few jelly fish (but they left us alone...we didn't see tentacles on them so not sure they were a stinging variety...didn't test that out : ). We could hardly take a step out in the water without stepping on a Sand Dollar!!! They were all alive so had to put them back but walking down into Stump Pass Park we found some white ones (these are dead) we could keep. Finally, on our last morning on the beach we actually found an Octopus!!! It was a tiny little thing living inside a shell we picked up and came crawling out : ) Amazing experience and highly recommend everyone try this beautiful beach out and this condo was more than satisfying/comfortable for my family."

  • Great

"Second stay at Dana and Jim's. Makes two great experiences. Modern condo perfectly equipped. Great location on Lemon Bay with entrance to Gulf just down the road. Small quiet condo community ( 9 units) with heated pool. Can t recommend enough. Brian and Laura Mulligan"

  • Beautiful Escape

"Manasota Key is a hidden treasure. Mangrove Cove was an affordable way to visit this special island. The cottage was well equipped and you could access both Lemon Bay for kayaking and the beach in 3 minte walks. Shelling was fabulous. A great spot to visit other locales such as Sarasota and the Fort Myers/Naples areas also. The southern end of the island has good restaurants and the Town of Englewood is 10 minutes away also."
