  • Great location, great cottage

"We have been very happy during the week we stayed at the cottage. The house is very spacious on two floors and was proper and clean as we arrived. You felt the care and personal touch of the owner. We definitely recommend this place and would come back anytime again."

  • Great choice of a vacation rental

"From the moment we pulled into the driveway we were immediately blown away - this house is absolutely beautiful! It was very clean, all amenities were basically covered for us, only thing we had to provide was the food and drink. As soon as you enter through the gigantic set of teak front doors your eyes are immediately drawn to the stunning views of the gulf through all the doors/windows along the rear of the house. Attention was definitely paid to details with this property - from the open floor plan to the in-house elevator to the massive master bedroom suite. The house has 5 bedrooms (4 with king beds, 1 with 2 twins and fold-out couches). There is also a sitting area outside one of the bedrooms that contains another fold-out couch. There are also 5 full baths (2 of which are in the master suite) and 2 half baths. TV's are provided in every bedroom as well as the media room, with AppleTV (Netflix, Hulu) with each. Waking up in the morning in the master suite is something that words cannot describe - the view off the foot of the bed is wall-to-wall gulf and palm trees. The kitchen is quite large, with pairs of everything - dishwashers, ovens, sinks and refridgerators. There is a screened porch directly off the kitchen, in addition to a large rear patio with furniture and palm trees next to the pool. The pool itself it nice although unfortunately one panel of the screen covering was missing from a storm prior to our arrival and as a result the pool was dirty on a daily basis with bugs and sand. The owner's were very responsive and were working to secure a new pool person while we were there although the pool was never cleaned once during our stay. There are several large sheds next to the pool containing umbrellas, chairs and toys for the beach. The beach itself is awesome, with a large amount of private space and a gorgeous view - we literally saw maybe a dozen people a day walking along the beach but that was it. Venice itself is about a 15-20 min drive, and Englewood about 15 mins south. There are some restaurants and stores within a 15 minute drive but it's not overly commercialized - in fact it appears that the Venice/Englewood/North Port areas are all suffering from economic downturn with significant amounts of vacant stores. All in all we had an outstanding time and would definitely come back, not to mention recommending this property to everyone we know who would be interested."

  • Wonderful vacation spot

"We stayed in a 2 bed unit, 510, 2nd bed is a loft so privacy is limited. The condo is nicely decorated and very clean. It had everything we needed for a two week stay. Wonderful views of the sunsets and Gulf from living room & dining area. Wished there was a balcony. Marg arranged a dock across the street for our boat at no charge. The grounds and pool are landscaped beautifully and the common deck is great for sun and leisure. The beach has lots of shells and sharks teeth for the explorer. Plenty of pubs and restaurants within walking distance. We will definitely return soon to explore this area again."

"This was our third visit to Almost Heaven and we too stayed in the downstairs unit that someone described as “shoddy” ? Not true! We were already in the area, and jumped at the chance to move from the hotel where we were staying into the unit which these people left. Our experiences at Almost Heaven have always been positive. The units are all super clean and nicely furnished in Florida decor. Especially appreciated the new recliner, sofa and flat screen in the living room. The beach as always, was issues as a result of the recent storm. In fact, if anything ,the beach was even wider than our last visit. All in all, we had another perfect stay! So peaceful, so pretty ! Thanks Marge for getting us into our favorite place on Manasota Key. Ken Hunter Sept.8-14,2016"
