  • Great amenities

"This was our first stay in St James City and Bob provided everything we needed for a great fishing vacation. He supplied information on area boat ramps, rental location by water, and local restaurants. Bob's cottage has everything we needed for a great fishing adventure, a very useful boat lift, fish cleaning table, BBQ grill, and a well equipped kitchen. We caught , cleaned, and cooked our catch every night, but tried the smoked ribs at Woody's on our last night, excellent! Bob responded to our emails promptly and was great to deal with concerning our questions. We will definetly be staying here again."

  • a great island getaway

"Easy access from Fort Myers airport (southwest Florida international airport) to Pine Island. The Eggs nest is a wonderful place to stay. Mornings were spent on the deck watching the fisherman go up and down the canal and the rest of the day the boats moving in the canal provided great entertainment. The house was very tastefully decorated in coastal colors and was very comfortable and relaxing with plenty of room for all. The 3 panel sliding door completely opens giving you great access to the screened in deck. We spent more time on the deck than inside. We loved watching all the birds on the Island, back home we don't have egrets, pelicans and an Osprey nest outside our windows. There are many "preserves" on the island were they have short walking trails. We saw young Bald Eagles at the Galt Preserve. Our favorite walk was St. Jude's trail. Fresh fish was available a short bike ride away at the Fish House. 2 Bikes were available in the garage for our usage and since its flat around there, bike riding was wonderful. We grilled Gulf shrimp almost every day and the grouper also was excellent. Watching the sunsets at night from the second story deck were fantastic. Our favorite restaurant was the "Waterfront" for the specials like New Orleans oysters on Saturdays and Sweet Tea fried chicken on Sundays. Eating out on the Waterfront's deck with a view of the canals we saw manatee and dolphins. There are several great restaurants with live music within walking distance. The screened in swimming pool was also a plus and very nice for a late night dip. A great day trip from the island via "Island Girl Charters" was over to Cabbage Key Island for lunch and then to North Captiva Island to Barnacles for great ice cream and/or a beer and then back to Pine Island. We highly recommend staying here for relaxing and enjoying the "island" way of life. The location is great for the surrounding areas activities. We would definitely come back."

  • Very clean and well maintained

"Very clean and well maintained for an older home. All the comforts of home. The property manager Charlie was very responsive when called. Our only complaint was the lack of heat in the pool, it was cold but we were told that the owner was adding this and all new windows so it will be better for future guests. The owner Rodney was great to work with as well. The island is remote but if you have a boat you will love it."
