  • A Much Needed Vacation!!!

"After a busy summer in Michigan, my family kept counting the days until we could hit the beach on our FAVORITE island...Sanibel Island! We have stayed at a couple of hotels and resorts on Sanibel before, but we hate the crowded pools and noise at certain times of the day and night. What a great decision we made renting this immaculate home with a private pool and amazing kitchen! The short stroll from the house to the secluded beach was a joy. The owners supply a beach wagon that held our cooler, chairs, and everything else we needed to spend quiet hours on the beach. The only things to interrupt our conversations would be the dolphins, manatees and jumping fish just off shore! We got awesome pictures of the beautiful ospreys and pelicans as they would glide past us and nose dive into the Gulf! We always look forward to the wonderful choices of restaurants on Sanibel and Captiva, but loved the well equipped kitchen at the house and the gas grill for days when we just wanted to relax around the pool or a walk back from the gorgeous sunsets. I promise we are renting this again if available!!! Thanks to Dawn for providing the best vacation home on Sanibel!!!"

  • The Perfect Getaway

"We selected Seaside Rendezvous for our girls' reunion. I was the perfect house and location for us. There were seven of us, but we could have had even more. There was a ton of room and every modern convenience you could wish for. the rooms were spacious and the beds were comfortable. The house is mere steps from the most beautiful sandy beach with tons of shells to satisfy any shell collector. The house had two kitchens and three places to eat. We spent most of the time on the huge screened in porch off the dining room that was surrounded by mature landscaping. The pool and hot tub were both enormous and screened in. There was even an elevator! Near to everything but with plenty of privacy. A truly idyllic place to stay!"

  • Our Home from Home in Paradise

"When planning our return to Sanibel Island and considering where to stay it was a unanimous family decision to return to the Coconut Hideaway. The West Gulf Drive location in our opinion is the best on the island. It is an easy walk to the beach, a short drive or 20 minute cycle along Rabbit Road to Doc Ford’s (until it relocates!), and not far from Jerry’s or Bailey’s for the best fresh steak, fish and shrimp to cook yourself on the gas BBQ. This central location is perfect for shopping and restaurants along Periwinkle Way and in the other direction Captiva is only 30 minutes away by car at 30 MPH! The Mucky Duck and Bowman’s Beach is a must visit for sun set lovers, but on a clear evening the sunset from the local Beach Access #1 is just as beautiful. The Coconut Hideaway is a home from home – with everything you need for a very comfortable stay on this paradise island. For the social media addicts and those who want to keep in touch with their email and video web streams the free Internet access is more than adequate. What more can I say that I haven’t said before, except … ><(((*> WE’RE BACK! Back to the Sanibel Causeway, Sea Shells, Sun Sets, the Beaches and Gulf Sea Breeze. Back to Manatee, Egrets, Brown Pelican and soaring Osprey’s. Back to Doc Ford Red Snapper, Grouper, Mojito’s and Pizza at the Great White Grill. Back to provisions from Jerry’s and Bailey’s, and kayaking the Tarpon Bay Commodore Creek Trail. Back to cycling Ding Darling, Bailey Tract, Rabbit Road alligator alley and West Gulf Drive. Back to sunsets at Bowman’s, the Mucky Duck and Starbucks for a caffeine revive. Back to She Sells Sea Shells, Sanibel Lighthouse and an Island Cinema movie. Back to Among the Flowers for a detox and the coolest smoothie. Back to the Island Cow breakfast and Pinocchio’s Ice Cream – need I say why! Back to Jensen’s Marina where Manatee graze and Manta Ray fly. Back to boating the Pine Island Sound, from Port Sanibel Marina to Cayo Costa Beach. Back to spotting dolphin in the brackish waters breach. Back to cooling off in the pool and grilling steak ‘n’ shrimp to complete a perfect day. Back to the brief summer rain that bring tree frogs a chirping and out to play. Back at our Coconut Hideaway, our perfect borrowed home on this paradise isle. Then back home to the UK, Wokingham England, until the next time! <*)))><"

  • Charming

"My husband, our puppy Gypsy and I had made plans to go to Englewood, Florida, However red tide made it impossible to go to the beach :( We almost cancelled our vacation. But I called several places in Sanibel when I called the Driftwood inn I spoke with Bridget who was one of the friendliest people I spoke with. Bridget was so accommodating and a wonderful spirit you can just tell by talking to her !! Pet friendlyI, short walk to the beach and all accommodations you need !! When going to the beach don't forget the wagon makes life so simple !! Thank you, Bridget , We will be returning !!! Sanibel is one of the most pet-friendly places I have ever been. Lori"
