  • A beautiful condo on a wonderful island

"Sanibel is a wonderful destination for nature lovers and families: unspoiled nature and beaches, shells and birds, architecture respecting the landscape, biking as preferred mode of transportation. This condo is perfectly located next to one of the most beautiful stretches of beach on the island. It is within a short hiking/biking distance (1 mile) from the Sanibel Sea School, Pinocchio's ice cream parlor and the lighthouse - dream destinations for kids. 5-10 minutes driving distance to the Dunes Golf & Tennis, Jerry's grocery store and plenty of restaurants. 15 minutes to Ding Darling Wildlife Preserve and Tarpon Bay kayaking and sea tours. 30 minutes to Captiva Island. The unit itself is clean and nicely furnished in "island style". As mentioned by other reviewers, nice view of the pool and the gulf. Three bedrooms and three full bathrooms, very efficiently laid out."

  • Terrific view - terrific condo - terrific handicap access

"Sanibel has been my favorite Florida location since moving to the state 20 years ago and Sanddollar C201 is now my favorite place to stay. The front row seat for the water view was wonderfully relaxing - we had many a meal outside (a fan there helped with the heat). I use a fairly large power chair and had no problems navigating most of the condo as the furniture arrangement and most doorways did not impede movement. Only areas not accessible were the guest bedroom, guest bath and front balcony. Rubber threshold ramps made getting into the condo and onto the screened lanai easy. The master bath was especially accessible - best roll in shower I've ever used and I particularly appreciated the cut out in the vanity where I could get close to the sink with my chair. Since I have a large chair, the width of the master bath was a little close but certainly doable - and the only area that was the least bit tight. We do a lot of cooking while on vacation and found the kitchen very well-equipped. In fact, everything was well-equipped (down to a hair dryer in each bathroom!). Lots of games and books. The condo's owners were very responsive and helpful. Probably the best recommendation comes from my husband who usually is ready to go home after three days - he'd have gladly extended his stay after a week."

  • Very enjoyable stay

"We had a very pleasant stay at this unit. It was very clean, extremely well-equipped. However, the view of the Gulf was a big disappointment--the pictures were taken before the trees grew much taller! Still, the walk to the Gulf is short and rather just look at it, walking on it is even more enjoyable! Yes, there was truck traffic in the morning even with the doors closed you could hear it but it was quiet until 7:30-8:00am when it is time to get up and enjoy the day anyway--not really a negative. The pool was warm, sparkling clean, plenty of chairs and tables. The check-in experience was fine--everyone in the office is helpful and pleasant. While you are reminded several times to take out the trash not until the email with check-out instructions (the day before check-out) is recycling mentioned. At that point, not seeing recycling bins or any mention of recycling in the unit we assumed they do not recycle at the complex. It was great fun digging through our trash, brushing coffee grounds off plastic, glass and paper so we could obey wasn't pleasant. Then when we got to the trash bins there weren't any recycling cans. When I mentioned this at check-out I found out that the recycling cans are in another trash area on the other side of the building. Perhaps a second trash can labeled "Recyclables" in the unit would be helpful. For that to be the only negative comment shows how great our stay was! Will definitely be back--hopefully next time we'll be able to stay long enough to read some of the books while we enjoy the screened-in lanai spaces! Thanks for sharing your wonderful piece of paradise!"
