  • Lovely holiday week at Pointe Santo on Sanibel Island

"This condo right on the beach was great and worth the cost of being so close to the gulf. The views and surf were amazing. We lucked out and the weather was fantastic, aside from a cooler day at the end of the week. The kitchen was very well stocked, and aside from dull knives (my husband, the chef, is very snobbish about knives), we had everything we needed in the cooking utensil/pots and pans arena. The downside, and reason for knocking off a star, is that it would have been nice if VIP rental and/or the owners would have told us things like there is no salt and pepper (Florida law, we were told), there were only a few dishwasher pods, minimal laundry soap, a few trash bags, etc). I asked VIP and was told they give renters a "starter kit" to get them through a few days. For what we paid, this was very cheap on their part. Future renters - you will love this place, but if you don't want to waste money on the things mentioned, bring some from home. The salt and pepper was a shock, but luckily our niece arrived before us so we scammed some from a food court in the airport, since we arrived late on Christmas Eve and stores were not open. One really nice thing VIP did was let us know that Bailey's (the local everything store) would deliver food even if nobody was in the condo yet, so we had enough food for Christmas day when everything (even all restaurants) was closed aside from 7 Eleven. To sum up, Sanibel is the place to be if you love unspoiled beaches, nature and less commercialism. This condo was very comfortable and we don't regret paying extra to be as close to the gulf as it gets."

  • Very enjoyable stay

"We had a very pleasant stay at this unit. It was very clean, extremely well-equipped. However, the view of the Gulf was a big disappointment--the pictures were taken before the trees grew much taller! Still, the walk to the Gulf is short and rather just look at it, walking on it is even more enjoyable! Yes, there was truck traffic in the morning even with the doors closed you could hear it but it was quiet until 7:30-8:00am when it is time to get up and enjoy the day anyway--not really a negative. The pool was warm, sparkling clean, plenty of chairs and tables. The check-in experience was fine--everyone in the office is helpful and pleasant. While you are reminded several times to take out the trash not until the email with check-out instructions (the day before check-out) is recycling mentioned. At that point, not seeing recycling bins or any mention of recycling in the unit we assumed they do not recycle at the complex. It was great fun digging through our trash, brushing coffee grounds off plastic, glass and paper so we could obey wasn't pleasant. Then when we got to the trash bins there weren't any recycling cans. When I mentioned this at check-out I found out that the recycling cans are in another trash area on the other side of the building. Perhaps a second trash can labeled "Recyclables" in the unit would be helpful. For that to be the only negative comment shows how great our stay was! Will definitely be back--hopefully next time we'll be able to stay long enough to read some of the books while we enjoy the screened-in lanai spaces! Thanks for sharing your wonderful piece of paradise!"

  • Great view, nice condo!

"My husband and I just returned from the beautiful Sanibel Island. Our stay at Sundial A203 couldn't have been better! The condo is clean and spacious and the view cannot possibly be beat!! Glenn and Gerrie are very conscientious about keeping the condo in great condition and make sure their guests are satisfied customers. The king bed is very comfortable! The beach is great for long walks and enjoying the magnificent ocean. If you are not a "beach sitter", the pools have plenty of seating. The grounds of the Sundial are also very beautiful and well manicured. The beach is not raked, since Sanibel is very eco-friendly. So you should expect the typical debris that would wash up from the ocean along with all the shells! I would request that some new beach chairs be purchased by the condo owners, since the ones available to take to the beach are at the end of being usable. May I suggest wooden frames that won't rust in the dampness of the storage closet. Also having a lounger would be great!!"
