  • The perfect location, community, and owner. Never equaled in my 20 years of renting in Sarasota.

"We have been vacation renting in various places in Sarasota for 20 years - sometimes for a week or two, sometimes up to 3 months. 207 Whispering Sands Drive is by far the most attractive, comfortable, trouble-free, friendly, and well-located place - by a very wide margin. Not only does it come with a car, which frees my wife to do her own thing without worrying about me, it comes with a beautiful private beach (3 minute walk in the community), 2 heated pools (1 and 3 minute walks), monthly cocktail parties, a neighborhood bridge game, and, best of all, the friendliest people you will ever meet. Almost as important to us, it is also a 1-minute walk from Siesta Village, where there are always several bands playing at 6-8 bars, 6-8 restaurants, and a lot of other nightlife. In contrast, Whispering Sands is a quiet, safe community with all the attractions of the Village just outside its entrance. The first among the friendly people of Whispering Sands is Merrill, your landlord, who is truly a nice guy, and a very accommodating one for any small problems. For example, the vacuum cleaner wasn't working well this year, so he simply asked me to go buy one and said he would reimburse for it - which he did. His check arrived 2 days later! Amazing service. The villa has clearly been furnished and cared for lovingly. All the little things are just as you would do at home if you had the time and money. The two-car garage is spotless and has a finished floor - not just concrete. The floors and showers are not tile - they are travertine marble, a beautiful touch. The TV is a 60" beauty. The towels are thick, the sheets are smooth, everything is in good order and spotless. This is not a place for rowdy spring-break vacationers, or anyone close to that. Whispering Sands is quiet and gentile, for 55 year-olds and up. There are no smoking and no pets. You must rent for at least two months and you will be required to have a background check by the Whispering Sands administration. Merrill will treat you like like one of the family, and will expect you to take care of his home with equal care. If you can do that, you will not find a better rental venue on Siesta Key, maybe anywhere! The only reason that I am letting you in on this jewel of a secret is that my wife and I have decided, after all these years, to finally buy our own slice of heaven - a similar vill"

  • Beautiful beach view condo

"My family of two adults and one 8 year old spent a fabulous week in Donna's beautiful condo. We really enjoyed the convenient location to the beach, pool and parking. We specifically picked it because we knew there would be a beach fireworks display for July 4th and the location was perfect for viewing. One of the pluses for this lovely condo is the lanai that has a view of the beach, an exit to walk over to the beach and the table that works as a great place to eat. I don't think we ate indoors once while there...dining on the lanai was great, despite the heat, with the ceiling fan. It also held the beach buggy, beach toys, a great sand sifter, and beach umbrellas. All came in handy. I appreciated the drying stand/coat rack out there too for wet suits and towels. The condo was absolutely immaculate and exactly as seen in the photos. There was plenty of storage space for our clothing and luggage, a well stocked kitchen, and a very convenient laundry room. The only thing we ended up having to add was paper plates and napkins, as I didn't want to take the owner's dishes outdoors, and laundry detergent. Donna even had a laundry basket in the closet that we could use. We used the pool almost every day, and found it to be clean and refreshing. We used the grills near the pool twice. We really enjoyed being able to make the condo our home base for a week at the beach. Siesta Key beach is just beautiful and despite the weird weather pattern the week we were there (extra humid, NO rain!) we had a blast. We spent one day at Venice Beach and used the sand sifter from the lanai to find shark teeth! We were able to easily walk the mile into the center of town in Siesta Key to shop and get ice cream. We even took advantage of the free shuttle service to get a ride back for fun. Siesta Key is a fun and friendly beach town! We can't wait to visit again! Thank you, Donna, for sharing your beautiful condo with us!"

  • Perfect spot for a relaxing getaway!

"This house was exactly what I expected and more! I went with a group of friends that rented the other portion of the house. It was clean with lots of personal touches that made our stay much more enjoyable. The main house has a great living space and kitchen space that allowed all of us to eat together and spend time together. The kitchen was well stocked. We had everything we needed to cook our meals, including can openers, bowls, serving platters, lots of utensils, baking dishes, cookie sheets, muffin tins, etc. There was nothing that we needed in the kitchen that we didn't have. There were even seasonings and spices, coffee and filters - you name it - it was there! There were books, board games, extensive cable channels and movies. Outside at the pool, there were umbrellas, tables, chairs, floats, noodles, lots of toys for kids, etc. The heated, saltwater pool was a nice touch. In the back storage, these owners provided everything we needed for the beach! Towels, chairs, umbrellas, carts, beach toys and even a cooler! Inside was sunblock and aloe care for your use! Outside in the laundry area, there is detergent, etc that makes it so convenient to keep on top of your laundry. There are restaurants within walking distance and a small but efficient market store. Also, the beach is really a fairly easy walk with about 3 blocks to the sand. I will most definitely be returning!"

  • Great House

"This home was very clean and roomy. The beds were very comfortable. Air conditioning worked great. I was pleasantly surprised to find a day bed in the loft area that was not mentioned in the description. It kept my grandson from having to sleep on an air mattress. The beach is beautiful and there is plenty of great shopping nearby. The kids enjoyed the pools in the evening. All around great place."
