  • Perfect house

"The house was perfect. We had 4 adults, 3 teens and 4 kids as well as our lazy English Mastiff. We enjoyed the layout of the home and the fact that we could use whatever needed to make our stay great. Everything worked! Loved the ring game at the lizard lounge and enjoyed the outdoor fire pit. The spa was hot from the sun, but we enjoyed that as well. My only wishes are that the WiFi had a stronger signal for quick work duties, but we were on vacation so it was fine. Something that isn't mentioned in the description of the house is the double black diamond hill to get down to the dock. Very steep, but doable. The dock was nice, but I really wish the covered slip was made available. With the threat of rain it was a drag to have to cover and uncover our boat. The owner responded quickly to every email and we appreciate them for opening their very nice home to us. I would come back for the house, but unfortunately not the trek up and down the hill or the dock situation."

  • Perfect stay at Deer Cove Cottage

"We had a wonderful stay at Deer Cove Cottage. The large screened porch and open upstairs layout with the great outdoor view made for a great weekend. I cannot say enough about the owner(s). Heather was always very responsive, flexible, answered all questions very promptly and was a pleasure to work with for our stay. The kitchen is well equipped and the house was nicely decorated and well maintained. The location near Tugaloo State Park is convenient to restaurants and stores for any last minute needs. We highly recommend Deer Cove Cottage for anyone visiting Lake Hartwell. We will definitely return for another stay."

  • Happiness on Hartwell

"What a great vacation we had. I would recommend this home to anyone. The lake was beautiful, loved that we had our own dock which was beautiful also. The house was very warm and inviting, just felt like we belonged there. We will be back in the future all the way from Michigan, North Carolina and Florida ! Thanks Mishea, everything was fabulous!"

  • Outstanding!!! The property, the location and the owners made this vacation the BEST.

"We were a group of six. This was our first lake vacation and because we found this perfect rental home, it won't be our last. Prior to arriving at the rental, the owners were very responsive to our questions and made the dialogue easy. They provide great directions and instructions regarding the property and nearby towns and restaurants, to include places to access by boat. The upstairs AC acted up on the 2nd day we were there and the owners had someone there to fix it within the hour. Amazing response and service which was very much appreciated. The home is just as upscale lake home with a cozy lake feel. The house was open and spacious allowing us room to prepare meals, grill, or play cards at the kitchen table while still keeping an eye on the TV to watch the Olympics. The master bedroom made me feel like I was in a resort and the king size bed was soooo comfortable. The morning sunrise off of the porch overlooking the water is a must-see. Two refrigerators made it ideal to keep all our beverages cold in one fridge and the other for food. (Ingles nearby for all your grocery needs.) We opted to take our own boat with us and could easily keep it tied up to their dock. We spent time daily at "party island" (very near their home) which offers a beach area to hang out. Being the end of summer, there weren't but a couple of boats out there at a time so we made our own party. So so much fun! We had great expectations to go hiking and tubing and trying out 211 Main St Cafe. We did research prior to our arrival (all nearby) but we couldn't pry ourselves away from the house. We did save a day for whitewater rafting down the Chattooga (Southeastern Expeditions). It was only like 45 min to 1 hour away from the lake house. Fun time. Four of us drove to Cherokee one night to try out Harrah's casino. Definitely don't waste your time on that trip. (Save your money for Las Vegas). We went to eat one night at Nami (an Asian Bistro) in Anderson at the Portman Marina. Now that is definitely worth the time and money. Delicious! Lake Hartwell and the Wertz provided a fabulous and relaxing vacation. This was our first VRBO rental and I couldn't have been more impressed. Jeff and Lana have a beautiful home and are very generous to open it up to strangers. Next trip to Lake Hartwell...this is the place to stay. You will not regret it!"
