  • Great location

"We have rented several homes in Highlands over the years and this is one of our favorites. Very well furnished and a great screened porch to enjoy the cool fall days . Great location close to down town Highlands as well as a short drive to cashiers. Owner called to make sure every thing was to our satisfaction great customer service."

  • Halfway to Heaven...totally heavenly!

"I stayed at Halfway to Heaven while helping with the wildfires in November/December 2016. I wasn't sure how many nights I would be staying and Jason worked with me and was completely flexible. The bed was very comfortable. The house was clean and immaculate. I'll be bringing my family back as soon as we can. Thanks, Jason!"

  • Another Great Stay

"This was our second time staying here, and I can easily see us returning again in the future. That should say a lot. My wife and I timed our trip to enjoy the fall colors, which were gorgeous. We spent a lot of time enjoying the adjacent Highlands Pass property, which is one of the things we really enjoy about staying at the lodge. By the way, to be sure, when you rent the lodge, you are renting the whole thing. It’s not like you rent rooms along with other folks. You get the whole place to yourself, and this place is HUGE. The lodge is spacious inside, with tons of bedrooms and bathrooms (upstairs and down). The upstairs kitchen is awesome. The grounds include 2 ponds, waterfalls, and walking trails. But the feature we like most is the front porch. It’s so relaxing to sit out there and enjoy the view of the ponds and woods. There are lots of chairs (several different kinds), so it’s easy to find one that you’re comfortable in. There’s a hammock as well. My wife and I literally sat out there for hours just talking, catching up, watching the birds, listening to the wind blowing through the falling leaves, and relaxing. It’s porch therapy. It’s the gold standard of porches—we find ourselves speaking fondly of it every now and again as we reflect on our vacations. To be sure, this is an older property, but it’s well-maintained and still in very good condition. If you’re expecting a 5-star stay with everything brand new, and not a speck of dust anywhere, then stay in a $1000 a night high-rise hotel in the city. This place is out in the sticks, so you’ll see a spider or wasp every now and again. The property manager is great, and easy to work with. They are quick to respond if you have any questions before and during your stay. There are plenty of good grocery stores in Franklin, and lots of nice antique shops between Franklin and the lodge. We didn’t have cell phone reception (both our phones use AT&T towers), but there is good solid Internet service. So you may want to get a Skype (or other similar) account set up in advance, and preload it with some minutes if you want to make calls using your smart phone. There is a landline there for incoming calls, emergencies, or to call the property manager (who is local). Overall, we had another wonderful stay, and are thankful to have a place like this available for such a reasonable rate. We highly recommend it."
