  • Awesome..

"Lovely place to stay, the view was amazing. Waking up to the valley every morning was the best part of my day.. I had fun picking fruit after Long day out.. The bed was very comfortable. I usually have trouble sleeping on beds other than my own, but one night I managed to sleep 12 hours.. Great place to relax. The only comment I have that is not great was that the knifes were not the best for chopping.. As someone who loves to cook and appreciate having a kitchen when away from home, having a good knife makes all the difference. The kitchen was well stocked, and that was nice. I had an amazing time. I plan on staying there again."

  • Better than Advertised

"I know it might not seem possible but the Cliff House is actually BETTER than the pictures show. It is even better than the reviews can write. You can't capture this experience in a review! I am winding down a 20 day trip on the big Island. I’m writing this review from a resort in Kona. The Cliff House has no rival. It has no match. For your dollar the Cliff House could easily be the best place on the planet to stay. The views are beyond breathtaking. We thought they were astounding and then a few days in to our trip the distant haze cleared up and we could see the towering mountain of Maui. I thought I was in a movie and someone had just repainted the back drop. Richard (the owner and host) is everything you could ever want in a host. He is gracious, helpful, kind, and he asks questions about how he can make the Cliff House better. He goes above and beyond yet manages to do so without interfering. He is there but not there. He has been doing this so long he has fixed everything there is to fix. He has provided everything there is to provide. My 2 year-old daughter fed the cows, my mother caught some rays and my wife sang songs to our baby from the kitchen as she viewed 180 degrees of Majesty. I could write on and on and on about this property. Part of me doesn't want to tell you guys about it because it may make my future booking more difficult. This place is at the edge of the world. You have the entire jungle to yourself. Cell phones don't work but Richard has provided a landline and wifi. DON'T TURN THE TV ON --- enjoy the trip -- enjoy eachother --- put your facebook down. Enjoy the freedom away from the chains of your normal life. Come to the cliff house."

  • Splendid home away from home!

"We loved our stay and found virtually everything we needed plus plenty of extras! This was a good home base for touring both sides of the island as well as Volcano and South Point. Waipi'o Valley was a little hard to access because of heavy rains - our trek on foot ended prematurely due to a crunched ankle - don't attempt that hill if it's wet! Luckily, I was blessed with walking stick someone left on the deck that helped me around for the rest week. We did make it down eventually by Jeep (4wd) and it was as beautiful as promised. We appreciated the excellently supplied kitchen and enjoyed fresh fruit smoothies every morning. Take advantage of the Farmers Markets in nearby Waimea! Nighttime can be a bit noisy with the frogs but no one had trouble sleeping. The trick is to wear yourself out during the day. This is a great place for anyone that wants to be away from the crowds and doesn't mind driving - I enjoy sightseeing so it was perfect for me. Our teens got a little bit of car fever, but those Kohala beaches are close enough to make up for it. It was a lovely vacation and I can honestly say the Hamakua Coast is my favorite part of the Big Island. We will be back!"

  • Peaceful getaway for a couple or a family

"Our two weeks in the house were a peaceful getaway from the resorts on the dry side. It was a few minutes from the lovely town of Honokaa, 20 minutes from Waimea for shopping and restaurants and 40 minutes from our favorite beach Hapuna. The house was very clean and well furnished. We took advantage of the hot tub and ate most meals on the deck which had a spectacular view of the ocean. Our daughter and her husband and two children spent three nights with us. There were plenty of sleeping accommodations, towels and dishes. The extra bathroom and shower downstairs came in handy when there were six of us. It was comforting to have the caretakers on the property to help with all of our questions and concerns. Being on the wet side of the Island, we were amazed that there were no bugs and yet being a wholistic center no chemical pesticides were used. We would recommend this rental to our friends and family and anyone who wants to escape the Island resort environment."
