This is a very special home about a 1.5 miles from the Waipio Valley Lookout. It's most suited for a couple with small kids or a single traveler. The front lanai view is gorgeous and their is also a lovely back patio with a small orchard. You are fully immersed in nature and the wonderful geckos combat the insects. It takes a few days to get used to their clicking through the night as they are loud and locquacious. Walking to Waipio daily was fantastic.I was extremely pleased with the fully stocked kitchen including a wok and rice maker. For a long term stay it has pretty much everything you would want and there is also a gas grill in back. The only thing I might add would be a few more sheet pans and a crock pot. And perhaps an immersion blender. The location is outstanding if you prefer to be in a non-touristy area. You're gonna do some driving for sure, but you're closer to Hilo, the Volcanoes, and only 10 mins from Honokaa which has several good restaurants and a grocery store. It's also only 25 mins ftom Waimea which has more food options. The management (Grace/Bonnie) and owner (Julie) couldn't be more accomadating, but truthfully I had zero issues during my month long stay. If you a lucky enough to visit the Big Island for a Iong-term stay I would highly recommended this property over anything in Kona, Waikoloa, Kawaihae, Waimea, Captain Cook, Hilo, etc. It’s also incredibly reasonable. Family Vacation

My family of 10 stayed at this property for 5 nights. It was the perfect place for us to reconnect and have fun! The house is everything you could want and more! It is absolutely gorgeous and CLEAN! I tried to find dust and couldn’t, lol 😆. The only negative thing I can say is that 3 of the bedrooms don’t have window coverings. There was no privacy for the people staying in them. Also, no way to block out the sunlight. Thankfully, my daughter brought blackout curtains that suction cup to the window so her toddler could sleep. But, we would absolutely stay here again. This house (and pool) is magical!

To sum up my stsy in one word, peacefull. I could not mahalo enough, from start to finish. Meeting the caretaker Doug, to relaxing in the house and the master bedroom with the rocking bench was perfect for my infant and toddler 😊. Trust me when I say this house was made for a family. I give honest reviews, an this house came equipped with condiments already with some perks. The tvs don't have cable but that was perfect because we watch Netflix an YouTube already (for my toddler). To have my grandmother, my parents and my kids feel comfortable is a big deal for me. Mahalo to all the staff and owners of the log cabin!

The Vacation of our Dreams

From the moment we were contacted by our host Cemille to be sure we were good on directions to the house, to the moment we said good-bye, everything was perfect. The slightly remote location is truly magical. Clean, comfortable, great kitchen with all you could need and more…and a grill! That worked! So often not the case. Meeting our host Cemille and learning a bit about her was a bonus. Such a joy to know her.But she is mindful and respectful of guest’s privacy. I only hope I spelled her name right! That view is one I will never forget. And the outdoor shower is something you just have to experience. It was truly hard to leave this special home. If you are wanting an off the beaten path, quiet and peaceful retreat, you should stay here. We loved everything about it. A short drive to Honokaa town that has lots to offer and all the aloha. And if you need a few more amenities Waimea is not far. Again, all you’d need and all the aloha. We continued our vacation on other parts of the island after leaving this house, and we both agree we should have just stayed there. We left a little piece of our hearts there and truly would like to come back some day. And it’s a perfect location for exploring the beauty of the Hamakua Coast. Thanks so much for this memorable stay.
