  • Garden really is a lovely sanctuary

"We had a wonderful stay in Richard and Natalie's beautiful cottage. They have truly created a garden sanctuary... the grounds feel lovingly cared for, and we felt nurtured in every way by our time there, from the very comfy bed to fresh garden bok choy. We look forward to returning soon!"

  • Comfortable house with gorgeous views!

"Quiet development with awesome views of the horse pastures and Mauna Kea from the living room window. Easy drive to all that Waimea has to offer, and convenient base camp for any other Big Island adventures."

  • Wonderful family reunion spot!

"We stayed at Hale o' Malina for a week, gathering all our children and grandchildren in one place. It was the perfect spot - plenty of room for everyone with wonderful amenities. We enjoyed the "off the beaten tourist path location" so much, along with all the extras provided. Best recommendation: my "I-don't-like-to-travel husband" wants to come back next year!"

  • Beautiful Home/Beautiful Views

"We were looking for a little diversity in our Big Island vacation, and this beautiful vacation home gave it to us. Perched a mile or so beyond the town of Waimea, we were at 3200 feet, with cool and misty night temperatures and sweeping views of the Maunakea volcano. Guy's home was very tastefully furnished with African pieces, and it was an open and relaxing environment and a great place to relax. It's full of interesting books, has robust wifi and good TV internet options, plus a gas fireplace for the cool evenings. We all liked to cook, and the home has an amazing kitchen with high quality appliances, beautiful cookware and everything you could need. Waimea has a couple of good markets, plus an organic market (be prepared for high food prices). We visited the Saturday market in town, as well. A 20-minute drive took us to the beaches down the highway from Waimea. There the weather is warm and tropical. Guy has boogie boards, umbrellas, snorkels, beach towels and flippers, so that was handy. It's easy to get to the little town of Hawi via a beautiful drive, and it's an easy drive to Hilo. We thought the house was perfectly situated to see a lot of interesting, diverse parts of the island. (Our son accomplished his goal of running to the top of Maunakea at 13,803 feet, where he had to cross a couple of snowfields to reach the summit!) We would highly recommend this VRBO to friends and family. (I forgot to mention the wild turkeys that roam around the neighborhood; we liked them!)"
