  • A beautiful little place in a great spot!

"Cindy was a very friendly and welcoming host, and keeps the apartment clean and tidy. The apartment is very spacious and well decorated although the toilet is a little cramped. A great location for exploring the top of the big island and waipi'o valley. We would definitely stay here again!"

  • Secluded, Quiet, Spectaular Ocean View, Beautiful Landscaping, Plenty of room, Pool, Hot Tub

"Our group of 10 adults stayed at Hale Waipio home for two weeks. Living in the Central Midwest we considered this property to be out in the country. It’s located on the quiet part of the Island & very secluded. We made our way from Kona International Airport following the hand typed directions, stopping for some necessities in Waimea & arriving at the property in the dark (a 1hr. drive or so). After driving slowly down the very long & winding driveway we finally caught a glimpse of the lighted entrance to the home. On the other side of the entranceway door started the magnificent lighted lanai, (Hawaiian music playing) creating a perfect ambiance. After entering the main house & exploring it for the 1st time we were all amazed by its beautiful décor. (I must admit it did take us a while to find the secret room.) After settling in we spent the evening outside at the big table under the Oceanside lanai living it up, enjoying the music & listening to the sounds of the Kukuihaele night. Everyone was up really early the next morning & watched the sunrise for the 1st time revealing the beautiful home, landscape & magnificent ocean view. OMG! The lanai stretched from the back entrance of the home all the way to the Oceanside "front" of the home. The lanai also connected to a separate (3) bedroom, (3) bath guest house. The gated pool with a waterfall, slide & hot tub was awesome even for adults! The outside lanai table was the main hangout for “Cocktails”, breakfast every morning & lunch & dinner when we took a day off from sightseeing. It was also the place everyone said goodnight after a long day of fun. The house was considered base camp. We ventured up, down & around the Big Island because it had so many things to offer. (We did a lot) Walked to the Waipio Valley Lookout from the house, Sunrise boat tour watching the lava flowing into the ocean, Sunset whale watching tour. (Actually seeing breaching whales, dolphin pods & a beautiful sunset), Different Beaches & Snorkeling viewing various fish & sea turtles, A hike down to a black sand beach, Botanical gardens, Hawaiian Luau. I’d like say Mahalo & Aloha to the property manager Pam for all her per arrival communications answering all our questions & sending much information in regards directions, the closest towns for shopping, groceries, restaurants & things to do. Our stay at this property and on The Big Island will truly be talked about by all ten of us for years to come. Highly Recommend it! (x10)"

  • Very well appointed cabin in private setting

"The cabin had everything we could have hoped for. Guide books? Yes (we didn't bring one). Snorkeling equipment? Yes. Beach towels and chairs? Yes. Sunblock, insect repellant, spare sweaters, umbrella, fresh eggs in fridge when we arrived? Yup. The kitchen was small, but had everything we needed so we cooked breakfast every morning and sat on the front patio with our coffee watching the wild turkeys, pheasants and chickens. We did hear a wild boar in the woods, but didn't follow that up because .... well, wild boar. If you are looking to head to Hawaii and sit on the beach, this is not be the location for you. It is 40 minutes out of Hilo on the wet side of the island. We loved it, but we covered 60% of the island in our travels and always looked forward to heading back to the quiet cabin in the lush woods. The only downside is there is a single small heater in the cabin, so if it gets chilly, you'd better like snuggling."

  • great accommodation and wonderful host

"My wife and I had a great stay in Waimea. Victoria was very friendly and willing to help if we needed. The cottage was very clean and comfortable and suited our needs perfectly. The nights were cool enough that air conditioner is not necessary at all which is a great plus for us.Would not hesitate to return to the hilltop cottage. The cottage was very easy to find even in the dark. Thank you very much Victoria Robert and Debbie"
