  • Best VRBO on the Island!

"This was an amazing place to stay! Yes, it is a type of Ohana but the way it is situated it is very private from the owners house. Very clean, comfortable bed and everything you would need for a vacation. The view is drop dead gorgeous and the town of Honokaa is very charming. One of Rachel (the owner) sons Daniel took us on a hike to the sea cliffs, it was an unbelievable view. If we return to the Big Island we would definitely stay there again, it was a highligt of the trip. Also reasonable priced."

  • Stunning panoramic view of ocean and sea cliffs of Waipio and beyond

"A simple but very comfortable large room with all glass opening to lanai with panoramic view of ocean and sea cliffs. Nicely equipped bath and kitchen. Paula and Dan couldn't have been nicer. Easy walk to Waipio lookout and to service providers of Waipio shuttle and horses. We had high expectations and they were exceeded."

  • All that we could have hoped for

"My husband, daughter and I had the pleasure of staying for a week at Keolamauloa and we are still going through withdrawals, a week now after returning home to Houston. Kaye, Sally and Keith were gracious hosts, extremely attentive when needed, yet low-key. The apartment was exactly as described and the grounds even more beautiful than portrayed in the pictures. The property is situated a few miles off the highway, which afforded great elevated views and cooler temps. We were so happy with our experience and would heartily recommend the property for anyone wanting to experience a countryside stay on the beautiful and peaceful Hamakua Coast."

  • Comfort and seclusion close to Waipio Valley

"My husband and I just stayed 3 nights here after a week in Kailua-Kona, and the house and location were perfect for access to Waipio Valley, hiking, and all the waterfalls and botanical gardens of east coast between the house and Hilo. The views from the master bedroom were awesome to wake up to, and the privacy of this house was great. We loved using the hot tub under the full moon, and the overall privacy that was designed into the sauna/hot tub area was great - while highlighting the views over the orchard and the ocean. Kitchen was great for cooking all our meals; mattress & bedding were great; big bathroom was nice too - with plenty of towels. We didn't use the twin beds in the 2nd bedroom, but the looked great, and that closet had all kinds of beach toys inside. (My only complaint is out of the owner's control: one of the neighbor's across the street had two dogs that seemed to want to bark a lot the rainy afternoon we decided to stay at the house and read. They didn't make a sound at night, so I have to assume they were probably left at home alone. We mitigated this by closing the windows in the kitchen that were closest to the street.) I wish there would have been a BBQ on the deck - but the kitchen was large enough and had plenty of options to cook everything inside just fine. There was an extra bathroom, shower and laundry down in the breezeway by the hot tub that would be great to use if you were traveling with family. The owners provided a basket of fresh fruit upon our arrival, and there were two bouquet's of fresh flowers - which was also a treat! I'd highly recommend this house and location for anyone wanting to get away from tourists and relax, or to hike and explore the eastern coast of the Big Island. We'd love to visit again and spend a couple more nights, as I didn't have time to explore all the cute shops and galleries in the area!"
