  • Healing Atmosphere

"4 of us planned to have a week of celebration, for ourselves and for the church I had started in Hawai'i 30 years ago. Unfortunately, my ex-husband (the current pastor of the church) died the week before we arrived, so not only were we there to celebrate the church, but to celebrate his life. With emotions overflowing for me, this home was perfect. I was surrounded by my friends, the artistry of the home and the beauty of nature. It was a haven of peace in between the busyness of helping arrange a memorial and taking care of his affairs. We spent a lot of time in the pool and hot tub every day, enjoyed cooking our meals instead of going out, and felt the Aloha Spirit everywhere! Thank you Jack and Barbara!!"

  • Amazing house! Amazing view!

"Being the skeptic that I can be at times, before we left for the Big Island, I said "if this house is half as nice as the photos, I will be happy." Happily, my skepticism was not needed because the house is fantastic! The house was clean, comfortable, and fresh. The kitchen is stocked for real cooks, it had everything I needed to prepare meals for a crowd, which we did many times during our week stay. Coffee on the lanai, breakfast on the lanai, dinner on the lanai! (You get the picture!). This is a lovely, charming house, thank you, Sterling and Trish! When Hurricane Madeline threatened (but eventually became a typical storm), we learned the house had flashlights, candles, matches and lanterns. The ocean view, lanai, hot tub, and pool were enjoyed continually and just perfect. We spotted green sea turtles in the waves and swam in the pool under the stars. The Ohana Suite provided the extra space we needed for the group. While a bit of a drive from Hilo, with some grocery planning in advance, we didn't mind and loved the peace and quiet. We took morning neighborhood walks with an ocean view and met warm and friendly locals. Our other outings included Blue Hawaiian Helicopter ride, hikes in the Park, visit to black sands beaches in the south, and Akaka/Rainbow Falls, and more. When it was time to leave, we all agreed we wished we had booked more days. Great Big Island vacation in a very special house! Grace, Dave, and group"

  • Great place to relax and enjoy the beach!

"My husband, infant, and extended family and I stayed at Steve's house for 4 nights recently. This was a great house! Prior to arrival, Steve was very communicative, a fast responder, and incredibly helpful. Everything was as described when we arrived, and from there we enjoyed thoroughly the beach across the street (and got to see some green sea turtles!), the beach gear Steve leaves at the house for his guests, the great space in Steve's house (large kitchen, large living room, great patio space, fun yard to explore, nice bedrooms and bathrooms, etc.), and the great location and proximity to Hilo downtown and Volcano National Park. We had a BLAST in Hawaii, and a huge thanks to Steve!"
