  • Beautiful Sunrises

"We thoroughly enjoyed our four night stay in this spacious, nicely decorated home with its wonderful ocean view. The location north of Hilo provides a quiet, peaceful get-away but is convenient to attractions such as Akaka Falls, Waipi'o valley, Pahoa and Kilauea Volcano Park. The three of us were very comfortable. We enjoyed the tropical garden and especially the beautiful sunrises each morning. Hale Hamakua is a very good value for the price. One tip: I would suggest stocking up on groceries in Hilo before you arrive."

  • Amazing beautiful place to honeymoon!!

"We enjoyed the Hulili farm so very much! Longan were being harvested and tasted yummy. Todd and Madeleine were wonderful and kind hosts. Todd provided much insight regarding things to do in the area around Hilo and Volcano National Park. The cottage was very clean with great amenities. The hanging bed was such a treasure and very cozy. There was lots of rain while we were there (10/26-10/30), but the sound was fabulous on the tin roof. The sleep number bed was a treat and worked well for us, surprisingly."

  • Quiet getaway in the country with beautiful onsite waterfall and fruit orchards

"A cute little cottage on the owners' property. A neighboring barn where the family is actively caring for horses. The property is very well taken care of - even the hike through the pasture was recently cut/mowed. A great home base for a couple, or two that want to tour the Big Island and have a cozy place to relax at night either at the kitchen table or on the front lanai (both a swing and a rocking chair, nice!!). Just a fantastic experience - just ten minutes north of downtown Hilo! It's pretty close to Mauna Kea - we went stargazing at night (open til 10pm). Only bad thing was the condition of saddle road. VERY rough where it was under construction - it was gravel, not asphalt. You do not need 4WD, just have to take it slow."

  • Great place to relax and enjoy the beach!

"My husband, infant, and extended family and I stayed at Steve's house for 4 nights recently. This was a great house! Prior to arrival, Steve was very communicative, a fast responder, and incredibly helpful. Everything was as described when we arrived, and from there we enjoyed thoroughly the beach across the street (and got to see some green sea turtles!), the beach gear Steve leaves at the house for his guests, the great space in Steve's house (large kitchen, large living room, great patio space, fun yard to explore, nice bedrooms and bathrooms, etc.), and the great location and proximity to Hilo downtown and Volcano National Park. We had a BLAST in Hawaii, and a huge thanks to Steve!"
