  • Peaceful setting

"Our family group of 7 adults (3 couples and my elderly father) spent Christmas at Elizabeth and Barney's beautiful house. There were many things we loved about it... the calm and privacy, the perfect temperature and (usually) light breeze, the fabulous upper deck that was a perfect place to sip excellent coffee and watch the sun rise, the fruit and nut trees right outside the door, the fantastic spring water. The house was clean, and the bedrooms were comfortable. Our hosts were gracious and helpful but not intrusive in any way. They did their very best to accommodate our requests. Bugs were not an issue. There were some tiny ants in the kitchen, and we trapped and released a total of 3 cockroaches during our 9-night stay... a small price to pay for the security of knowing there was no poison around! A couple of things anyone staying here should be aware of: 1. The description says the house will sleep 12, but there is only bedroom space for 6. The other beds are custom bunks in the great room, which is really meant to be a common space: it is all windows and right at the front entrance, so there is little privacy and it offers no place to store personal belongings. It would be fine for children, but was not ideal for us. 2. If you really like to cook, this accommodation presents a challenge, especially if you have a large group. Saucepans, frying pans, salad and serving bowls suitable for our group of 7 were at a premium. I really really wanted some sort of a juicer or press to take advantage of all the fresh citrus that was just lying on the ground outside the house! 3. We appreciated the ecological advantages of the solar water heater, but the water was NEVER very hot, and water pressure in the showers was very low, especially in the downstairs bathroom. 4. The remote location is a mixed blessing... you have to drive for at least 30-45 minutes to access most of the things to see and do (which are fantastic... we snorkeled, rode horses, hiked, swam). This is not an issue if you just want a place to chill in the hammock and enjoy some peace and quiet, but we craved more adventurous pursuits. We spent a lot of time in the van!"

  • Unique lodging

"Very satisfied with our stay at Yurt in the Sky. We weren't sure exactly what to expect, but were pleasantly surprised at how roomy and comfortable it was. Plenty of space for our family of 6. A great place to stay while exploring the southern part of the island. Would stay again and would recommend."

  • Turtle Hut 1 was amazing.

"We loved our stay at Turtle Hut 1. The place had everything we needed and more. It's the little extras that made such a difference. Barbara answered all the questions I had and gave some very good pointers. That's what made our time there so AMAZING!"
