  • You better book it!!!

"Wow! As someone who likes to travel, I find the comforts of a tent to a four-star hotel and everything in between in my travels. This little condo had all the amenities of home. A nice kitchen full of everything you need... she even have a closet full of beach items we could use including a cooler. And let me tell you, her housekeeper keeps that place so clean inside and out. The grounds the pool area, the barbecue area were all available until the 10 pm and 8:30 PM respectively. You could easily drive to either Hilo or Kona in one day. Do not miss the Volcano national Park, the black beaches, and of course the sea turtles. The owner and housekeeper kept us informed and provided us with all the information we needed prior to our trip and during our stay. You will not find a better place for the amount of money that you're going to pay. Just because it doesn't book for $500 a night doesn't mean you're not getting a $500 at night stay! However, and this is just a personal choice, we could not drink the tap water...other than that we will definitely be back! Barb and Dina, MAHALO for making our vacation so wonderful!"

  • Pretty good, but...

"The stay was pretty cool! The house is in a quite neighborhood and there is a restaurant near by...and that is something you should consider during your stay here! The windows from the kitchen are open and you hear how the restaurant staff talks and you also hear all the noise from the kitchen and a loud air conditioner. We had earplugs and that was not a big issue...but for people who are sensitive to noise...maybe! Everything else was amazing, thank you very much!"

  • Great Time!!!

"We had a wonderful time at the Turtle Hut. The place was located with in walking distance to the black Sand Beach. We were able to see several turtle with our visit to the beach. Green Sand Beach is also not far away. Be sure to use the local driver to get to the beach. It is a much loner walk than you will expect. The drive to Hilo and the Volcano are also a nice drive to spend the day. Don't miss the Farmer's market in Hilo on Wed. and Sat. Setting on the patio is nice to relax after a day of exploring the area. The only thing that I have as a negative is the millipedes that would come in around the patio door in the evenings. May be common in that area , just not to me. I would give the condo a Big Yes."

  • Relaxing Retreat

"We stayed here for 5 days for our tour of the east coast of the Big Island. This house is wonderful. It is secluded in an amazing setting 6 miles up the hill from Rte 11. It really is a place where you can relax and get away from civilization. There is separate room from the house that is almost like camping. There is a half bath inside and a full bath outside. The outside bath is enclosed with an shower that is open on one side and a bath tub on the deck. We LOVED it. When we arrived we were so happily surprised that it was a special as the pictures showed. This is a house that you will be driving alot if plan on going out. It is 30 minutes from Volcano and 20 minutes from Na'alehu so if you want to eat out, you should do it while you are out of be sure to shop for dinner materials in Hilo (1 hours) or Kona (2 hours). The good thing about not staying near Volcano is that Pahala is drier. I did not want to have rain all of the time and like I expected, Hilo and Volcano were far rainier than Pahala. We went to the national park for a day, the next day we took a helicopter tour and then toured the waterfalls near Hilo (Rainbow and Akaka). The last day we went South to Black Sand Beach of Punulu'u and then the Green Sand beach and to South Point. Definitely go to all three. At the Green Sand beach parking area you will be greeted by locals who will take you to the beach for $15/pp. Or walk the three miles and take a ride back ($10/pp). This house is great for touring the east side of the island, but the Big Island is big - you will drive a lot to tour the island no matter where you stay (Kohala coast or Hilo side). Many people don't realize this - so this house is a great place to stay if wanting to visit volcanoes and south point areas. The night sky is amazing as well. this is a DARK site! Thank you so much Sandra!"
