  • Stunning Property!

"We chose this property for our stay on the Kona side of Big Island. Although it was quite a drive from the city, it was a perfect location to see many of the beautiful sites on Big Island. The property is situated so that you feel like you are alone in paradise. The grounds are beautiful, and we enjoyed waking up to the beautiful sunsets and foilage on the property. We could watch the sunset while in bed through the French doors that lead to a beautiful view. We also enjoyed watching the equine grazing in the field. Our hosts were very informative and kind. The apartment has everything you would need for your stay. Even though this property is off the grid, David has it set up with instant hot water, a gas stove, satelite tv, washer/dryer. The studio is comfy and functional. We discovered that we were only 4 miles to the road that leads to the most spectacular green sand beach, as well as the southernmost spot in Hawaii (and the US). We had fun off-roading in the area. You are close to the entrance to Volcanoes National Park. Our stay couldn't have been better!"

  • Tranquil and relaxing get away with fabulous hosts.

"Zen like ohana that feels welcoming and cozy. The lanai overlooks a lush yard with many birds coming into the bird feeder. Karen and Ron were friendly, welcoming, helpful and accommodating. The bed was comfortable and the kitchen well appointed. Great complimentary coffee. The separate shower/ bathroom was nice and was fitting to the experience. No dressers, but suitcase stands worked fine. Good location for visiting Hawaii Volcano NP. Would recommend this place and would stay here again on a return visit. Michele"

  • Thought I'd died and gone to heaven!

"From the moment my husband and I arrived at Aina Lani (Earth Heaven), it felt as if we had indeed discovered heaven on Earth. This delightfully cozy and beautiful remote sanctuary offers an exotic, back to nature feeling, yet has many thoughtful touches of luxury and conveniences. Owners/hosts Anne and David built this cottage with great love and you can feel it. It is reflected in the amazing woodwork - the mango countertop and shelves, custom trim, to the warm, soothing decor and tasteful furnishings. Abundant windows allow for all around views of the gorgeous, lush grounds and gardens. Lying in the deliciously comfortable bed, we could simply turn our heads toward the huge window to see stars in the night sky and lovely foliage in the morning light. Incredibly romantic! Anne and David are there when you need them, but then disappear to insure absolute privacy, peace and quiet. I have never felt so safe and at peace anywhere. For those who seek spiritual growth, this sanctuary is the perfect location for meditation, inspiration, and reflection. Remote and raw, yet easily accessible via a remarkably well kept paved access road. The Volcano, Hilo, Punalu'u black sand beach and other points of interest are easy day trips away. Coming home to this cozy hideaway was a highlight of each day. Our only regret is not allowing enough time to enjoy the property more thoroughly. Five days flew by in this paradise. A full week ( or longer!) would be optimum. We preceded our stay here with equal time at the more touristy Kohala area, which was lovely, but cannot compare to the serene joy we experienced at this hideaway on the road less traveled. Tips : Be sure to ask Anne about her book, which tells the story of how Aina Lani came to be , as well as insightful descriptions of the island and all its wonders. Reading it while here added greatly to my appreciation and enjoyment of the special place we were so fortunate to discover. Also, pack a set of long sleeved top and long pants. In winter it can get a bit chilly (mid 50's) at night here, as well as at the volcano and other sites at higher elevations. The cottage does have a heater, and our thoughtful hosts even provided his and hers slippers which added to the coziness factor."
