  • What a beautiful, peaceful place to stay

"Our stay in this beautiful house in Naale'hu was perfect, the owners’ responses quick. The property manager, Shirley, is very helpful and lives nearby. We did enjoy the fantastic garden with lots of fruits we could use, the beautiful view and the calm. The house is perfect and offers everything one could wish for. It is a great place to explore the southern part of Big Island and the Volcanoes National Park. Black Sands Beach - a good place to swim, sunbathe and a fantastic place to see sea turtles - is nearby. We heartily recommend a stay here. Esther + Brigitte, Switzerland"

  • Perfect Family Getaway!!

"The Hula Hut was the perfect stay for our family's Hawaiian experience. The location was ideal, in between Hilo and Kona, and so close to the Black Sands beach and Volcano National Park. The condo was a perfect size for our family of four (two small children), and even with one room, the kids were perfectly content and comfortable on the pullout couch and chair. The Hut was immaculately clean and convenient to cook and meet all the needs of the family. The area was quiet and seemed well managed, we especially loved the pool and BBQ area. We did not have any issues with WiFi, although we did not spend much time on the internet when there are so many things to see and do in Hawaii! Can't wait to go back!!"

  • Quiet and Remote Getaway

"My husband and I just got back from 10 nights at this resort. We had spent the previous week in Kona, and this was a nice change of pace. The condo was very clean, and also well stocked. We appreciated having the coffee grinder and blender. As others have already said in previous reviews, make sure you stock up on groceries before heading out there, as there isn't much shopping nearby. My husband really appreciated that there were some golf clubs in the closet, and went golfing twice. The pool area is really nice, and I enjoyed the lava rock hot tub. This is a great spot to stay if you plan on going to Volcano National Park, its about 20 minutes away. We also went to Hilo a couple of times, and highly recommend the scenic four mile drive just north of Hilo and taking in the botanical gardens. The black sand beach is a short walk, and you can see turtles almost daily. I would love to come back someday and stay again!"

  • Quiet, clean condo near the Punalu'u Black Sand Beach

"My husband and I stayed here for 12 nights and enjoyed everyone of them! The condo was quiet and clean and had all the amenities of home. You can see and hear the ocean from the lanai. Punalu'u Black Sand Beach is right down the road and we were able to see turtles on the beach almost everyday! We also enjoyed some star gazing at night from this beach. We enjoyed the pool and hot tube at night and so did many of the other residents at the condo. Unfortunately, you are not allowed to hang your towels on the lanai to dry. We spent a lot of time in the car driving to see all the different attractions on the island (1,600 miles in total) as the condo is fairly far removed from the main areas on the island. The nearest grocery store is about 1/2 hour away. We flew in and out of Kona, however, I would suggest flying into Hilo as the drive is less curvy and takes less time than driving from Kona. A cool local trick we learned while we were there is that there is no need to buy water at the store. There are local water filing locations all over the island which are free! They aren't well marked but ask a local and the will point you in the right direction. There is one in Naalehu. All you need are empty water bottles. The Volcano National Park is about 45 minutes away and was an amazing experience. We had dinner at the Rim House Restaurant for our anniversary and stayed to watch the glow of the volcano once it got dark which was amazing! Akaka Falls was a also highlight, as well as Kapoho Tide Pools. Overall, we had a fabulous vacation and loved staying here. Highly recommend. :)"
