  • Idillic setting and wonderful owners

"We stayed 3 nights at this fantastic property. When we drove up, we all had our jaws drop. It is even lovelier than the pictures. The house sits high up the hill from the little town of Hawi and overlooks the ocean. When the clouds move out of the way, you can see Maui across the channel. The house is a beautiful lodge home that really fits the character of the area (the Parker Ranch/Waimea area horse properties). The owners live in a house screened by trees down the hill. You'd never know they were there unless you had a question or needed something, and then they were right there to ask. They have horses and sheep in the pasture just below the house and treats to feed them. My kids were in heaven waking up every day to an awesome tree swing, hammock in the trees, huge lawn, and animals to interact with. We loved sitting out on the huge front porch and watching the sunsets and stars. The house was well appointed and beds were comfortable. The town of Hawi has several really good restaurants and some of the best ice cream on the Island. There's a farmer's market and good grocery store, and fun artisan shops to browse through. Great beaches are a short drive away and they have boogie boards, towels, chairs and umbrella ready for you. If you are looking for a great place to get away from it all, this is it. We all wanted to move in and were really sad to leave. Thanks for an amazing stay!"

  • Just what my hectic life needed! Shamhbala!

"I had a week to myself so I visited my friend and her husband on the Big Island. I stayed in their lovely and comfortable one bedroom suite, Shamhbala. I was in total relax mode so my days consisted of waking up to coffee in my canapé bed with my book, an early morning swim in the ocean followed by an outdoor shower surrounded by rockery and flowers. I especially enjoyed my short drive to the ocean listening to 60's music and taking in the magnificent view. Rose and Matt directed me to the Farmer's Market and I selected healthy island greens and fruits for the week. I read and wrote during the day and took evening walks around the property while the sun was setting. Sometimes I was so awestruck by its beauty that I sat down on the grass to take it all in. My stay at Shamhbala offered me the privacy, beauty, and renewal I needed for my hectic life. I am excited to bring my husband the next time I stay at Shamhbala!"

  • Wonderful cottage tucked away in Hawi

"Oh, how I miss Hawaii. This cottage is awesome, somehow they've managed to make it feel like you're home when you walk through the door. Warm, welcoming, cozy, peaceful, and accomodating. We spent 3 nights here on our 8 night tour around the Big Island and it was perfect for us. We were out and about for most of our stay, yet every morning I woke up rested and refreshed for the new day. If you want to make to the big island I highly recommend staying here at the Bamboo cottage!"

  • A wonderful rental home!

"We enjoyed 5 days in this lovely home that has the most well stocked kitchen-small appliances, dishes, cookware, etc. of any rental we have stayed in. In addition the owner supplied hair dryers, curling iron, shampoo, etc. in the bathrooms. We highly recommend this home. The owners are great to work with and communicate well."
