  • Overall really nice, but . . .

"This place is well located for privacy and seclusion, reasonably priced, and very well appointed. The kitchen has all you need, including condiments, etc. The master bedroom is great with a very comfortable bed. I didn't need to use the a/c even once because there is a great breeze all the time. Well, occasionally pretty windy, which makes noise through the screened in lanai (screened view). Loved having the washer/dryer. But, I can't ignore the issue I had with bugs. Small bugs (flying and crawling), probably because the house is in a field. The owners tried to make me happy on this, called a bug guy and even offered to let me leave a week early on a month stay. I managed to work around it (easier than finding another place and moving), but you should be aware just in case. I have stayed lots of places in Hawaii, with no bug problem. I can only think it's the long grass surrounding the house. It's on a very large lot, with long grass between every house. Others haven't mentioned bugs, so maybe it was just my bad luck or sensitivity."

  • Beautiful, relaxing and "full service"

"The ohana was beautiful! Cozy space with all we needed for our stay including beach towels, snorkel gear, beach chairs and boogie boards. Plus two burners for cooking. Pamela and John were so nice and welcoming. Great property, lovely views of the Kohala coast, close to beaches and stars were unreal!"

  • Beautiful retreat

"My husband and I stayed at this lovely home recently for four nights. Our host, Kalia, provides a beautifully decorated, peaceful retreat in the hills of northern Hawaii. The kitchen is fully stocked to meet your every need. Why stay at the overpriced resorts when there is public access to lovely beaches a short drive away. This home is much nicer than any hotel. The gardens are amazing and so is the stargazing. No light pollution here. We cannot wait to return someday."

  • Endless Ocean Views!

"As a frequent visitor to the Big Island and the Kohala Coast, I came across this house as the other properties I have rented were booked during my dates. I am happy they were booked as this house was truly amazing and hands down the best value in Kohala! The house is extremely well equipped - everything and anything you may need in the kitchen, modern bathrooms with plenty of new towels, bedrooms (we just used the 2 larger bedrooms) were great with nice linens, comfortable beds and plenty of closet space. The house features amazing ocean views from almost every room. The house is just up the road from some amazing restaurants and other retail shops - Café Pesto, Kohala Burger and Taco, Shaved Ice and Ice Cream, Gas and Convenience station, Seafood Bar, Kohala Dive Shop and charters, Fresh Fish store with local catch for the day to grill at home and more - truly a great location. The manager, Michael, was extremely responsive with booking and checked in on the day I was leaving to see how everything was. Another great stay and truly a great find with an amazing house and great management!"
