"We're a family of 4 (kids are grade-school aged) and we were so incredibly comfortable in this condo for our week on the Big Island. The entire unit is very thoughtfully appointed. The kitchen was well stocked so our meals were easy to make; I never felt like I was wishing for a pan/dish/utensil that I couldn't find. The bedrooms were comfortable but we didn't unpack the kids' stuff since there isn't a dresser in the second bedroom. The living room was great for stretching out each evening and watching a movie (thanks for the assortment of family-friendly dvd's), and all of the beach accessories - beach towels, chairs, umbrella, beach mats, boogie boards, cooler, ice packs in the freezer, etc - made it simple to pack up and head out to enjoy the sunny weather. It was easy to feel at home as soon as we arrived.
We appreciated the packet of information you sent regarding all of the local recommendations for beaches, restaurants, etc. and referenced it throughout our stay. It was nice to know that the owners beach was available to us and we tried it as our first beach outing. Unfortunately we found it crowded the day we went (granted, it was a holiday) so that was the only time we took advantage of that benefit. Other beaches nearby were better anyway and we went to a different one each day, never driving more than 10-15 minutes to have our toes in the sand. The kids loved the pool as well even though it was fairly cold (it's still winter, after all) but rotating through the hot tub made it totally doable for the few afternoons we spent there. We enjoyed our coffee on the lanai in the morning and even though this unit is right at the front of the development, we found that it was still very secluded on the back lanai thanks to lots of privacy plants.
Other random thoughts: the Polynesian dance show at the shops on Monday/Thursday nights is FANTASTIC, the groceries at Foodland Farms in Mauna Lani are really expensive - it was great to be able to grab enough for our first morning since we arrived fairly late, but we found the KTA in Waikoloa Village (up the hill 15 minutes) to be a better value and it had more choices.
I would whole-heartedly recommend this condo to anyone and am already scheming a way to get to go back next winter!"
