  • Awesome Townhome

"We stayed in the Villa for a fantastic week and enjoyed every moment of it. What we loved best about our vacation was that "at-home" feeling. Besides the amount of space we had - over 2000 sq feet for the 3 of us, we loved the fact that we had both levels to ourselves. We don't like living on top nor below another family. We only had neighbors to the side of us and never did we once hear any of them! The layout is amazing with the bedrooms located upstairs while the living space was on the lower level. The gourmet kitchen is large and has everything needed (note to self: No need to pack spices, aluminum foil and plastic wrap in the future). The kitchen had everything imaginable! We particularly enjoyed the Viking Grill on the Lanai and used it frequently. We picked up Steaks, Chicken, and Salad from Costco and supplement it with locally grown fruits for a delicious dinner. Having a washer / drying in the villa was great as we were able to do laundry every few days. Although this was our first time to the Big Island, it won't be our last. In the past, we've vacationed primarily in Maui. But having now spent 2 weeks on the BI, we can honestly say that we enjoy the BI as much, if not more than Maui. We love the serenity, the quaintness and the laid-back lifestyle of the Big Island. We loved the Farmer's Markets particularly for the hard-to-find island fruits like Cherimoya, Jackfruit, and Soursop (which btw, is hard to find on Maui). While the BI is big and driving is required to the beaches, markets and shops (only the Shops at Mauna Lani are within walking distance), we got used to driving to where we needed to get to. We really liked the location of the Mauna Lani Fairways as it allowed us to get to Waikoloa, Waimea, Hilo, Kalapana, and Kona easily via the Hawaii Belt Road or Saddle Road. It was also very close to some of the best golf courses in Hawaii. We purchased a Hawaii Golf Deals Card and used it extensively at the 3 Waikoloa Courses, Hapuna and at Mauna Kea. We had a fantastic time on the Big Island of Hawaii and our accomodations added so much more to our vacation. We wanted a place where we would enjoy hanging out and not just a place to "come back and crash". It's a little piece of heaven right in paradise!"

  • Another great stay

"This was our fourth visit to this condo and we continue to be amazed at how great this unit is, Mark has been such an easy person to deal with and always ready to provide information to improve the visit, not to mention how wonderful they keep up this unit. Love the location and everything is here to support your time at the beach, especially access to the Beach club. We still find new things to discover just in the Mauna Lani area. Thanks again for a great stay."

  • Fully stocked, well appointed villa in the heart of Mauna Lani

"We have stayed at different villas at Mauna Lani on several different occasions and love the resort and beach club. What truly set this past visit apart was this lovely villa that we stayed at in the Golf Villas. I am not one to write reviews and have rented many, many a vacation home over the years without doing so but felt compelled in this instance based on the wonderfully stocked home, clean and well organized, and the responsiveness and support of the owner Karen. One thing that frustrates me with vacation rentals is having to go out and buy all the staples (salt and pepper, olive oil, coffee filters, etc) that you then end up tossing when you leave. This home was well covered on this front with many staples already in the house. Further to food items, the kitchen was very well stocked with every type of good quality gadget you might need, decent knives, and things such as tupperware and ziploc bags. It also provides a good selection of beachware, including towels, boogie boards, noodles, beach toys, etc. And the layout and furnishings were perfect for our family, including the twin beds for our 2 kids so that they didn't have to share a bed. We were extremely comfortable throughout the trip, feeling immediately at home. We will definitely look to rent this property again the next time we visit Mauna Lani. Thanks Karen and family!"

  • Nice Property Within the Mauna Lani Resort

"Overall, we found this to be a nice rental in a good location of Hawaii. Pluses: Being next to the pool was great, had no issue with noise from the pool as the rental has lush vegetation around it to provide noise and privacy barrier. The rental is very spacious. More than enough room for the five of us. Location to beaches is great! Communication with the property managers was excellent. They were responsive and very accommodating. In fact they allowed us to pay a little more for a very late check out due to our late night flight. Just to give constructive feedback, I'll mention a few things that could be improved upon. The rental is due for a good cleaning. Cleanliness of a unit is #1 on my list, and there are areas that hint at how well a place gets cleaned. For example, ceiling/bathroom fans and AC ducts have significant dust buildup, and while looking for some misplaced items I checked under the beds and saw quite a buildup of dust. Also, the grill is due for cleaning. While the place is tidy, it just needs a good spring cleaning. There are some areas that need fixing: Several of the rooms had blinds with missing sections. Probably were broken at some point and just not replaced. And, some pieces had been replaced but were shorter in length from the original blinds. Not sure if this was a short-term fix, but this sort of attention to detail is important to renters and this did look neglected. Kitchenware needs to be inventoried. As this is a nice rental in an upscale resort, this should be improved upon to meet expectation. There are a couple of pots/pans with scratched/peeling Teflon that are unusable (unless you want that in your food), and no baking sheet(s) provided (had to used tin foil to heat up our fries)...an inventory and update of kitchen items would go a long way. As another reviewer mentioned, the dishwasher didn't get the dishes clean. Also, one of the patio chairs was visibly broken and set next to the grill - unusable. This should have been tossed, repaired, or stored away before our arrival. We found the advertised beach equipment in the garage. Very nice beach chairs, great body boards. The cooler is a Styrofoam cooler often sold at the grocery store to get your items home, not really useful for a beach or daytrip adventure. Would recommend spending a small amount of money to provide a real cooler. Overall this rental was fine. If the mentioned items are addressed, I'd give it 5-stars"
