  • Loved it all. Peaceful and relaxing vacation.

"This was our first stay in the Mauna Lani area. We stayed in G201 from 3/20-3/26 and loved every minute of it. My DH even said upon entering “If I had known the place was so nice, we could’ve stayed here the whole time.” (Before arriving here, we stayed in Volcano for 3 nights.) I will say I wanted to stay closer to the water but the view from the lanai was great. We could see the ocean and sometimes hear the waves. The only issue I had was that sounds from the lanais seemed to echo off the other buildings. This is a low density complex which never ever seemed crowded. Several times we felt we had the place to ourselves. This unit was huge for a one bedroom. Nice big kitchen, roomy living area and 2 full bathrooms. The couch makes into a bed, although we didn’t use it. I was thinking we could bring along one of our nieces next time and they could have the couch and their own bathroom. The bed was comfy and waking up to seeing palm trees outside was always a treat. We did have an issue with ants in the kitchen. When I called about them, we were brought ant traps. These seemed to work well, but we would still occasionally see ants here and there. No big deal to us. We kept all food in the fridge. Lots of towels available, but only one real beach towel. You know the kind of long and colorful towels you take to the beach. We discovered later that bigger “beach towels” were in the unit, but they were white. This is one thing I think they could improve upon. We did like having a washer and dryer in the unit and used it a few times. There was laundry detergent already there and available. The terraces are a quick walk to Makaiwa Bay and the beach. They have cabanas and loungers for use. The snorkeling here is some of the best I’ve ever experienced. Lots and lots of fish in very clear water once you are about 25 yards from the beach. Snorkel early in the day for the best conditions. We went one afternoon and the water was a little choppy. The adjacent fish ponds make for a nice relaxing walk around the area. It’s also a nice walk over to the Mauna Lani Hotel for drinks and dinner. The pool and BBQ area were rarely busy. I went to the pool 3 times and had it all to myself. BBQs you can reserve time at or they have a grill and go BBQ if you don’t want to eat there. There’s a Foodland grocery store about a mile away. They have a nice deli and fresh food selections if you don’t want to cook. What I was missing was an ABC store, but it’s about"

  • Love this vacation home!

"Wish we could give 6 stars. This home was a lovely paradise. Fully equipped kitchen, wonderful large bedrooms, bathrooms and living space in general. Loved the beautiful furnishings with a relaxed feeling. The pool area with the grills, whirlpool and waterfall just steps from the house was perfect. Loved the artisan hula girl lamp downstairs...umm we ran across the artist in Kona and one will be arriving soon! :) We highly recommend this for an extended family with kids and grandkids or 2-3 couples."

  • Wonderful unit, excellent location!

"Our family of 4 absolutely loved staying in this unit. Having 3 bedrooms was amazing with 2 teens - 1 boy, 1 girl. The unit is stylish, very clean, extremely well stocked as far as kitchen, linens, towels, beach chairs, snorkel gear, and so on. Totally comfortable and classy. The master bedroom is huge. Having a washer and dryer was a big help, just know that the washer is a little loud and the dryer needs a couple runs per load. The pool is lovely, as are the grounds. The beach club is just beautiful, with great snorkeling very close to shore, paddle boards, classy restaurant. We honestly didn't know where it was, but it is on South Kaniku Drive. We grew very fond of the little supermarket at the Shops and were there most days. Saved a lot of money on restaurants. Do try the vegan/vegetarian place at the Shops (no matter your food preferences). If you happen to be there on July 4, as we were lucky enough to do, go to Turtle Independence Day! Management was very responsive and helpful. The location was great for day trips north/east like Pololu, Waimea, Hamakua Coast, Waipio and even Hilo. Or south to Kailua-Kona and snorkeling at Captain Cook. Highly recommend!!!"

  • Beautiful Home in a fantastic location

"My family of four loved this home. The upstairs bedroom gave my kids their own space while we had plenty of privacy in the downstairs master suite. The kitchen was very well equipped with so many things, I kept finding new things on the 10th day! Laundry in a great location right as you come in from the garage and plenty of beach/pool accessories. My daughter loved the boogie boards and all the sand toys. Chairs were great at the beach. Super clean and plenty of towels and linens. The location is great. You can walk to Foodland and to the pool. The pool in the development is so nice. Lap pool and a family pool. The beach at the Mauna Lani was one of our favorites so it was nice to have beach access. They have great cabanas there. You can also drive 10 minutes to a bunch of other beaches. Oh and only a 10 minute drive to the best shave ice truck in Kawaihae! Thanks for providing a great home away from home."
