  • perfect for one couple

"This condo is a corner unit in the Fairways group of condominiums. It is in a quiet area with a view of the golf course and distant palm trees silhouetted against the sky; it is set back from this view, which is not as good as its neighbors enjoy in the same condo group, and I think the "Best Views" of the property title is a little overblown. The outdoor patio has a gas grill, like the other units, and a dining table and two lounge chairs, and we ate outside quite a bit. Because of the patio orientation, however, there is no place to sit in the shade in the late afternoons in February and March, a disadvantage, and the air conditioning compressors from this and the adjacent unit are very noisy when one is sitting outdoors. The master bedroom has thin, difficult to draw, curtains. There are large closets (containing plenty of hangars but only one, sashless bathrobe), There is a good kitchen with all the appliances and utensils one might need. the master bathroom is large, although one of the two sinks wasn't working when we were there; this will certainly be an easy to fix issue. In the garage were two portable beach chairs, but that was about all in terms of extras. Considering everything, we had a very good stay here. the unit is the right size for a single couple, although there is a second downstairs bedroom and small bath. We could sacrifice the view for this unit's lower rental fee compared with the larger condos in the area. The South Kohala realty who managed the property were responsive and friendly. We stayed last year in an adjacent unit, and liked the area and this unit enough that we have rented it again for next year, shortcomings and all! This is a beautiful area of the Big Island. the condo comes with free access to the Mauna Lani Beach club, a lovely area to sit, swim, snorkel, and whale-watch. There is a well-stocked grocery store and restaurants a half mile away, and wonderful beaches and restaurants within a half-hour drive. We especially liked Merriman's and the Red Water Cafe in Waimea, The Blue Dragon and the Plantation Grill in the Kawaihae Harbor area, and the local Monstera for sushi and noodles."

  • We loved our stay!

"Our family, my husband, I and two sons on holiday break from college are still remembering and talking about the fantastic time we had while staying here for 1 week in January. It is hard decision choosing where to stay but I made the right decision when I chose F2. We loved the well decorated spaciousness. Photos do not do justice to the artwork and furnishings that we enjoyed here. We all had our own bedroom and bathroom. I wanted this to be a restful time for all and since my sons share places with others, this was important. We loved the location; steps to the pool, workout room and just a couple minutes by car to the gated beach club where the beach and snorkeling is fantastic. I was some what worried before I booked about being off the beach but from my experience, if you are staying at a beach resort, the walk is longer to the beach than the actual car ride and parking here is excellent with shade parking. Shade parking on the beach!!! What? And a restaurant and beach chairs available there and if you want to rent a paddle board or whatever, you may. My concern turned out to be one of the best things about renting F2 We checked out almost all the beaches on the coast and this location is just minutes away from other fantastic beaches one must see and experience. And speaking of touring, one doesn't have to pay to valet your car and it is right outside your door in case you have to get something from the car. We loved this about the unit! The unit was also very clean and we wanted for nothing! There wasn't anything we felt that was lacking. We appreciated the use of the beach towels, boogie boards, beach chairs that we used at other beaches. We also took the bicycles out for a ride. The food store was close, as was the snorkel rental store which offers numerous drop-off points on the Island. To our family, what more could anyone need? We loved the lanai off the master bedroom, and the grill in the downstairs. We are missing your beautiful home, and the beautiful weather. We recommend this rental to any family who would appreciate the joy that can be theirs by staying here. Mahalo for the sweet memories."

  • Fantastic Hawaiian Accommodations!

"Our family of four (2 adults, 2 teenagers) had an absolutely wonderful stay at Dennis' condo! We spent just under 3 weeks on the Big Island, and the condo was a perfect size to allow us to relax and spread out (the upstairs/downstairs configuration was perfect to give the adults and kids some separate space). Mauna Lani is a perfect spot from which to venture out on activities all over the island. We were just 1/2 hour from Kona/Kailua area, 1/2 or so from Waimea/Kohala/Hawi activities, and 1 1/2-2 hours from Hilo/Volcano area - perfect! The location itself is peaceful and quiet, but very close to lots of great beaches and the busier Waikoloa area. We made good use of the private beach parking card, and my husband and son enjoyed daily access to the onsite fitness room. The condo is absolutely lovely, and very well appointed! Couldn't have asked for a nicer stay! Dennis and Marci are both so friendly and great to work with (special thanks to Dennis for being so responsive when the AC went out - he had a repair person there to fix it the next day - a Sunday no less)! We'd recommend this condo to anyone, and would absolutely return next time we find ourselves on Hawaii. Thanks so much again! :)"

  • Loved it all. Peaceful and relaxing vacation.

"This was our first stay in the Mauna Lani area. We stayed in G201 from 3/20-3/26 and loved every minute of it. My DH even said upon entering “If I had known the place was so nice, we could’ve stayed here the whole time.” (Before arriving here, we stayed in Volcano for 3 nights.) I will say I wanted to stay closer to the water but the view from the lanai was great. We could see the ocean and sometimes hear the waves. The only issue I had was that sounds from the lanais seemed to echo off the other buildings. This is a low density complex which never ever seemed crowded. Several times we felt we had the place to ourselves. This unit was huge for a one bedroom. Nice big kitchen, roomy living area and 2 full bathrooms. The couch makes into a bed, although we didn’t use it. I was thinking we could bring along one of our nieces next time and they could have the couch and their own bathroom. The bed was comfy and waking up to seeing palm trees outside was always a treat. We did have an issue with ants in the kitchen. When I called about them, we were brought ant traps. These seemed to work well, but we would still occasionally see ants here and there. No big deal to us. We kept all food in the fridge. Lots of towels available, but only one real beach towel. You know the kind of long and colorful towels you take to the beach. We discovered later that bigger “beach towels” were in the unit, but they were white. This is one thing I think they could improve upon. We did like having a washer and dryer in the unit and used it a few times. There was laundry detergent already there and available. The terraces are a quick walk to Makaiwa Bay and the beach. They have cabanas and loungers for use. The snorkeling here is some of the best I’ve ever experienced. Lots and lots of fish in very clear water once you are about 25 yards from the beach. Snorkel early in the day for the best conditions. We went one afternoon and the water was a little choppy. The adjacent fish ponds make for a nice relaxing walk around the area. It’s also a nice walk over to the Mauna Lani Hotel for drinks and dinner. The pool and BBQ area were rarely busy. I went to the pool 3 times and had it all to myself. BBQs you can reserve time at or they have a grill and go BBQ if you don’t want to eat there. There’s a Foodland grocery store about a mile away. They have a nice deli and fresh food selections if you don’t want to cook. What I was missing was an ABC store, but it’s about"
