  • Second Kolea stay

"We love this beach (sand, shade, snorkeling) and house, and 2 Papayas is a very responsive property manager. My husband is particularly happy with the cooking gear in the house, and there is a great lanai for meals and lounging. 5 miles away in Kawaihae is a wonderful fish store, next door to the best lunch truck (fish tacos and seared ahi salad). A very relaxing vacation all together."

  • Banyan tree house

"We had a great experience staying at this quaint cottage on the Banyan property. Small but had all the amenities we needed. Lovely views of the many beautiful trees and ocean beyond."

  • Idyllic location.

"Great wraparound views, nice quiet street on the water with a nearly private beach area. The house is older but clean and well maintained. Responsive service from the nearby Two Papayas staff office. Highly recommended."

  • The Best!

"There are simply not enough superlatives to describe Home of the Hula Moon. We've just returned after a wonderful 10-day family stay there. We could not have asked for a more lovely and accommodating home. We have stayed in many vacation rentals and never before have we found a home where the photos online do not do justice to the reality of the place. This home has to be seen to be believed. The furnishings are beautiful, comfortable and first class. The art work throughout the house is impressive. And everything is meticulously maintained. Before writing this review I reread the description of Hula Moon on the website. There is not a single misstatement or exaggeration in that description. In fact, if anything, it understates how much Hula Moon has to offer. The house lacks absolutely nothing: the kitchen is stocked with all the dishes, glassware, utensils, tools and appliances one could possibly need and the garage is filled with bikes, beach chairs and umbrellas, snorkel equipment, reef shoes and pool toys for everyone. And if you do somehow find there is something lacking, I'm quite sure Niki or Steve, the concierge/property managers would happily bring it to you. We did have a couple of minor equipment glitches early in our stay, but the owner, Niki and Steve all went out of their way to make sure everything was up and working properly. We loved lounging on the lanai or the back lawn watching the ocean, the turtles and the sunsets. At night, we floated in the pool gazing at the impressive night sky over the Big Island. (The only complaint we could possibly have is that we wished there was a way to turn off some of the outside lights around the pool to get an even clearer view of the sky.) Although we loved spending time at the local beaches and snorkeling, we found that we rarely wanted to leave the property. There is something magical and inviting about the place that makes it hard to leave. You never feel as if you're in a rental property. We felt as if we were in our own home -- it's just that welcoming. It's very clear that the owners and managers treat this home with love. If you have the chance, run, don't walk, to book some time at Home of the Hula Moon. You will not regret it. We're already trying to figure out when we'll be able to get back there. Annette & Mike"
