  • 5-Star Fun at 1st Class Accommodations

"Our holiday celebration at this lovely condo was wonderful. Truly, it was a 5-Star experience! This was only our second time we've booked a property on the VRBO site, so I was still a bit hesitant. No need for worry though. Robert, the condo owner, was so organized, helpful and responsive. He was easy to work with and had every detail covered. He provided a late check out, recommended many restaurants and activities, and even after our trip, promptly refunded our deposit and tried to help us locate some items we'd misplaced. Exceptional service! The condo itself was immaculate and beautifully decorated. Stylish, yet comfortable. Lovely gourmet kitchen. Our son caught a 25-lb. mahi mahi on Christmas Day and this condo's kitchen was fully equipped to prepare delightful meals. We took advantage of the fabulous Viking grill on the private lanai as well. In addition, we loved the Kolea Beach Club's infinity pool setting which gave us easy access to the beautiful Anaehoomalu Bay Beach. Snorkeling, turtle and whale watching, stunning sunsets...all only minutes away from the condo. We enjoyed every minute...and hope to return to take another crack at the condo's 1000-piece seascape puzzle. So fun for our entire family...we just needed one more day to finish! Thank you, Robert. We had a 5-Star time!"

  • Nice unit and good value but arguably best suited to older couples

"Overall this is a nice place provided you are looking for a quiet condo and have tempered expectations of the local beach and pool. Pros: - Overall quality of unit and complex (best in area?) - Well equipped with several kitchen basics and beach stuff - Spacious; great for sharing with another couple - Local paths / trails are cool - Quiet Cons: - Retirement community vibe - Beach within walking distance (A-bay) is a disappointment - Nice pool area but not heated (cold!) and lots of rules (no toys, etc) - Couch is in dire need of replacement - Management company is nice and polite but behind the times with online booking (fax/mail) - Local shopping areas areas (King/Queens shops) have buzz-kill elements like a Macy's and Macaroni Grill - Quiet We had a small maintenance issue that the manager attempted to remedy immediately. The floor is really dirty - probably from folks not taking off their shoes and tracking street grime on to the tile floor. We are strict shoes-off folks so after seeing black soles after 30 minutes I called to request a cleaning. They promptly came and re-washed but is didn't really help. I didn't push it. Overall the place is in nice condition but the floor needs some help. I suppose it is hard with a rental... The complex is really nice but it was hard with a 4 year old - A-bay is a drag, cold pool, no pool toys permitted. All in, it is probably about the best you'll do in the Kohala area but it isn't a great family set up if you are comparing vs a resort."

  • Fabulous property and amazing hosts

"I just can't say enough wonderful things about this property and our hosts, Jeff and Susie. Kolea is perfect, a wonderful tropical enclave in the midst of the Big Island lava fields. The location is great, the closest of the major resort areas to the airport. Walkable to the nearby market, and the beach is right across the street and down a short path through beautiful ancient fishponds. Super easy to take a swim or a snorkel in A Bay (but watch out for sharks!). The property itself is well appointed and immaculate, they really go the extra mile to welcome their guests. The welcome basket with the Mai Tais was much appreciated after a long day of travel! Jeff and Susie were extremely responsive and I can't thank them enough for providing our base for a wonderful family vacation."

  • Enjoy! Excellent location. Well worth it!

"Great villa complex. Very convenient to A-Bay and pool. Unit was clean and had all we needed to borrow for the beach and kitchen allowed us to enjoy fresh fish at home. Such an ideal location to base all other day trips around the island. Shawn was helpful and answered all of our questions. We recommend it!"
