  • Nice unit and good value but arguably best suited to older couples

"Overall this is a nice place provided you are looking for a quiet condo and have tempered expectations of the local beach and pool. Pros: - Overall quality of unit and complex (best in area?) - Well equipped with several kitchen basics and beach stuff - Spacious; great for sharing with another couple - Local paths / trails are cool - Quiet Cons: - Retirement community vibe - Beach within walking distance (A-bay) is a disappointment - Nice pool area but not heated (cold!) and lots of rules (no toys, etc) - Couch is in dire need of replacement - Management company is nice and polite but behind the times with online booking (fax/mail) - Local shopping areas areas (King/Queens shops) have buzz-kill elements like a Macy's and Macaroni Grill - Quiet We had a small maintenance issue that the manager attempted to remedy immediately. The floor is really dirty - probably from folks not taking off their shoes and tracking street grime on to the tile floor. We are strict shoes-off folks so after seeing black soles after 30 minutes I called to request a cleaning. They promptly came and re-washed but is didn't really help. I didn't push it. Overall the place is in nice condition but the floor needs some help. I suppose it is hard with a rental... The complex is really nice but it was hard with a 4 year old - A-bay is a drag, cold pool, no pool toys permitted. All in, it is probably about the best you'll do in the Kohala area but it isn't a great family set up if you are comparing vs a resort."

  • My Favorite Place on the Island

"We put 700 miles on the rental car. We saw incredible waterfalls, beaches and volcanoes. The lanai you see in the picture was my favorite spot of them all. Coffee in the morning and cold beer in the afternoon/evening while watching the whales. Perfect lodging for a family of 4 . We made great use of the snorkel equipment, beach chairs and towels. Unit 15B was the envy of everyone walking by on the path which leads to Beach 49. Jeff was the consummate host. Easy to contact and very attentive."

  • Beautiful and spacious

"We stayed in this condo for two weeks and loved it! It's bright and modern, with a well-appointed kitchen, and a roomy lanai. Beautiful golf course views during the day, with a great sunset view in the evening. The condo gym, pool and grill area is a 2-minute walk. 10-15 minute walk (past the petroglyphs!) to the King Shops and Queens Shops for dining and shopping. 2-minute drive to A-bay Beach. Located in a resort area that also includes a Marriott, a (giant) Hilton, and a bunch of other condo communities within short driving distance. Beach necessities in the closet, along with a pack-and-play for infants."

  • The best VRBO property I've ever stayed at

"The condo is new, well kept, clean, incredibly spacious, and luxurious. The kitchen is so well equipped that one could make dinner for guests. The lanai is huge. The furniture is as good as new, clean, and comfortable. The whole condominium complex is spotless, with manicured lawns and plants. A plus for me is that the property is within walking distance of the Hilton Waikoloa Village, where I was attending a conference for part of my stay, which was for a week. Beaches and shopping malls are within easy reach. This would be my top choice for staying on my next trip to the Big Island."
