Recent Waikoloa Beach Resort reviews

  • Stay here and you will love it like we did.

"We just spent a couple of weeks at Vista Waikoloa G-201 and loved everything about it. This condo has been nicely and professionally updated since built in 1990. It is beautifully decorated and the furniture is very comfortable, as are the beds. The kitchen is way more than fully equipped. Two sets of dishes and flatware, plus a bunch of glasses. A large set of quality cookware and all the utensils you could need. Pantry is stocked with spices and other basics as is the fridge. The counter tops are new granite and the 5 burner range, microwave, and dishwasher are new also. The large double door fridge is older, but works fine. The views from the wrap around lanai are of the golf course and in the distance Mauna Kea. The snow level on the volcanoes was fairly low when we arrived. Pretty cool to be sitting on a beautiful beach under a palm tree and the backdrop behind you is a snow capped volcano! The lanai has a table with 4 comfortable chairs and 2 lounge chairs. It has a wet bar counter too with power outlet. There is an outdoor closet that is crammed to the ceiling with beach stuff. Beach chairs and mats, boogie boards, snorkels - fins - masks, an small ice chest, and a ton of little kids beach toys. There is a commercial ice maker full to the brim with ice in the club house. The building features an elevator and stairs, so it is easily accessible. The grounds are gated, and include a heated saline pool, two spas, a fitness center, a BBQ area with 6 modern gas BBQ's, and an on-site business center. This is great location within the resort, the Hilton is almost across the street and the King and Queen's shops are located just down the road. But if you walk there don't take the road all the way. Again go out onto the golf course like for the restaurant, but turn right rather than left. Walk down to Waikoloa Beach Drive and turn left. This will cut off about 10 minutes walking time and save walking uphill some coming home."

  • Fabulous Condo and Location

"I highly recommend Hali'i Kai Unit 12A for vacationing on the Big Island. Often pictures on an internet listing are not representative of the actual property once you arrive. That is not the case with this listing. Unit 12A is very well maintained and up-to-date. The Hali'i Kai staff also do an excellent job of maintaining the lovely grounds in the complex as well. Peggy provides such great service, starting with a quick response to any rental inquiry, through the booking process and addressing any questions or concerns during your stay. This was our second stay in Unit 12A. After the first stay, we were so impressed that we couldn't imagine staying anywhere else as we planned this trip. Peggy does such a wonderful job of decorating and supplying the condo with top line furnishing, appliances, and other essentials to make your stay comfortable. In fact, during our stay the dishwasher was replaced and a new bed for the master bedroom was delivered. Both are very nice upgrades to the condo. The location of this unit within the complex is excellent. There is a view of both the ocean and golf course from the living room, master, and lanai. We enjoyed many dinners on the lanai watching the sunset. Building 12 is also next to the Ocean Club and pool so it is just a short walk. I also enjoyed walking the ocean trail that is accessible from the complex. It is about 1.5 mile trail that leads to A-Bay beach. I think it goes farther in both directions as well. There are several restaurants within the Waikoloa Resort. Our favorite was Sansei for sushi or seafood. Driving a little further, we also loved the Wagyu burger at Village Burger in Waimea. Our two favorite activities were visiting the Volcano National Park (there was a visible lava lake in the crater that can be seen from the crater rim at the museum (no need to walk 6 miles to the ocean view) and taking the tour into the Waipio Valley. We also had a chance to take a peek at Unit 12C (also available for vacation rental from Peggy). This is a new purchase that she totally redecorated. It is beautifully decorated and completely updated. It is in the same building so you get both the ocean and golf course view. The advantage to 12C is that it is a ground floor unit if you have trouble with stairs. We will certainly stay here again when we return to Hawaii."

  • Great Christmas in Hawaii

"My wife, two children (11 and 14), and I stayed in Unit 23D for 8 days over Christmas. This was an excellent condo for our stay. We had everything we needed in the condo. The pictures do not do it justice. The owner was great in giving us detailed instructions and making check-in easy. The condo was well stocked with what we needed during the stay. We at many meals on the lanai. The location is great. It was very quiet even over the Christmas holiday. I was a little worried that it would be too far from the pool. However, it worked out perfectly. It is a short 5 minute walk. We went to the pool every night. The pool and the views are simply amazing. We could see whales in the ocean from the pool. The restaurant/bar and the people who worked there were awesome. The location of the condo is very close to shopping and a great grocery store. It is also very close to great beaches. The A-Bay beach is right up the road (about a 5 minute drive) with a lot of parking. Hapuna Beach is also a short drive and I would highly recommend this beach, especially for boogie boarding. I would recommend being there by 10 or 11 for the best parking. It is worth the short trip. There are also many great hikes and snorkeling in the area. I would highly recommend this condo. Thank you for a great vacation."

  • Living large, relaxed and in style in Waikoloa

"My family and I spent 10 glorious days at this tricked-out, well-appointed, luxurious, large and comfortable condo in Waikoloa. I have only praise for the owners and this space. From the moment we contacted the owners to inquire about the space, we had quick responses to our questions with detailed answers. Their 'welcome packet' and 'FAQs' was the most informative and robust document I've ever seen ... and I've been renting through VRBO since practically the founding of VRBO. As for the space itself, it is LARGE, LARGE, LARGE. My wife and I had our two adult children and one teenager with us and we all had plenty of space. The beds were very comfortable and I've never seen a rental space with more towels than this. We had plenty of beach towels and bathroom towels for all of us. The kitchen was very well stocked. We cooked many meals in and had some of our extended family (who were staying nearby in far lower-quality spaces) over for dinners, with plenty of plateware to go around. The location was great, with Hapuna Beach an easy 15 minute drive away."
