  • Great Condo, Great Location

"This is a wonderfully large condo, with a location right on the ocean front. My husband is handicapped, which is why we booked this condo: it has a roll-in shower and an accessible bathroom with grab bars and raised toilets--not always easy to find in condo rentals. Weather was really hot this time of year (late September), with virtually no wind, so we appreciated the A/C during our week long stay. There were some problems with the television reception. Directions listed in the "help" book don't work at all, but I was able to get the set working. And the cable company was working on the property, resulting in loss of reception for a time. Also, there are no working telephones in the condo. Apparently, they are not even hooked up. If you need to call re an emergency, keep your cell charged at all times--it will be your only phone. The condo is very well stocked with anything you might need for simple living, including lots of seasonings. We had some insect problems in the kitchen (small ants), but I was able to eliminate them with Simple Green found under the kitchen sink. Also had a huge cockroach, but finally got rid of him, too. There is a small refrigerator outside, but it is in dire need of defrosting. We didn't need to use it at all. The ocean views and privacy of the condo are exceptional. We both enjoyed sitting on the lanai in the morning, having breakfast and watching the outriggers go by. Didn't see any dolphins, but certainly loved watching the surf hit the lava rocks. There's a shopping area just up the hill, perfect for picking up groceries at the KTA or getting a quick meal at L & L or Subway. Covered parking is close by, but be sure to drop off any handicapped person near the condo before using the very small space. Exiting the car is not always easy, if the other space is occupied. We truly enjoyed our stay here and would definitely stay again in the future, health willing. The condo is very well furnished, large, and in a great location. Go for it!"

  • Hawaii Vacation Nov 16-29, 2016

"I brought my family to residence of Randy and Atsumi over the Thanksgiving Holidays. I found his property on VRBO and was quite impressed with the number of 5 star ratings they received on their stay. I totally agree with them all. We stayed in the main quarters and were very impressed with the cleanliness, layout, and beautiful view one has over the Kailua-Kona shoreline from a coffee plantation! They keep the property in excellent condition and if there is a problem they fix it ASAP. We had a microwave go out and it was immediately replaced. Randy and Atsumi are there if you need them but otherwise maintain a low profile. We had access to a very nice swimming pool, hot tub, and gym most anytime right outside the back door. The neighborhood is quiet, relaxing, and quite charming. Most everything you need is provided from kitchen utensils and a Weber grill down to the beach chairs and snorkeling gear. The Kona coffee they roast on premise is with the very best. One is close to about anything in the Kona area and their residence serves as a base of vacation operations if one wants to explore the entire island which we did. My wife and I stayed with our older sons ages 20 and 24 and they loved it as well. The property can work well with younger children as well. I highly recommend this VRBO listing to anyone. We did not want to stay in a resort close to the ocean. This beat a seaside hotel from our perspective by 5 times. Staying here helped us see the real Hawaii and we did indeed. Also Randy and Atsumi are very interesting people and you'll enjoy getting to know them. Mahalo, Jeff"

  • A beautiful place

"We are just back from 12 days at Hibiscus House. It was our 4th visit and we keep on returning because, having tried a number of houses in Kapoho and elsewhere on the island, this is the place we enjoy most. The landscaping is very beautiful with an abundance of flowering trees and shrubs, the yard is large and the tide pool warm and very relaxing. We liked the new rock wall around it. The house itself is comfortable, spacious and nicely furnished. The kitchen comes with everything you need for food prep.We spend all our time out on the huge lanai. There's enough space that, with a number of family members visiting, you can still find a quiet place to read. This time we were all adults but we have visited with children and the place works very well for all them too. We so appreciate our holidays at this special home and hope to return"

  • Great location near shops and beaches, central air, ground floor and kids enjoyed the pool

"Love the location as it was close to several shops and restaurants, several sandy beaches (Hapuna, Beach 69, Kua Bay, Kukio) and close enough to drive into Kona for more affordable groceries (Costco, Safeway, Walmart). The central air worked great and made it comfortable to sleep. We had a dedicated parking spot and was able to use visitor parking for our 2nd vehicle. We had family members stay two units away in A103 which was perfect. Would recommend going to Kalapana and renting bicycles to the active lava flow. We also wanted to go Star Gazing on Maunakea, but ran out of time. We need to come back! Owners were easy to work with and answered all questions in a timely manner. We would stay here again."
