  • THIS VILLA HAS IT ALL

"We rented this Villa August 8-15, 2016 As so many reviewers have written, this villa has it all. The kitchen is stocked with every conceivable small appliance, gadget, pot, cookware, cup, glass, dish, etc. All the rooms are large with the exception of the second bedroom which is still adequate. Because of it's size, there is no dresser in the second bedroom, but the Blackburns cleverly have installed hanging canvas shelf organizers for clothing and shoes. The only items not supplied were bar soap for the showers and Kleenex. All of the furnishings are upscale and the beds are very comfortable. The air conditioning worked great which is needed on the Big Island in August. The view from the lanai is gorgeous, overlooking the pool, King’s Lake and King’s Shops. One evening we watched a fireworks display from the lanai. My husband loved the Bar-B-Que area. There are 6 Weber grills and a facet and sink. All needed Bar-B-Que supplies were located in one of the kitchen drawers. The location of this unit could not have been better. Close to the pool, grill and even the elevator. There is an assigned parking spot which is just steps away from the elevator. A tip for great shave ice is the Original Big Island Shave Ice truck which is about 18 minutes north, located next to the Blue Dragon Restaurant in Kawaihae. A large Shave Ice is just $4.00. They also have fabulous ice cream sundaes."

  • Perfect, Cozy, Beautiful

"This property is amazing. We stayed in the studio above the garage and it was well appointed. It had everything you could ever need and more. There was a beautiful ocean view from our bedroom! The beach was just a short walk across the lawn where we went snorkeling, swimming, and sunbathing daily. There's plenty of chairs for hanging out on the beach and watching the sunset. It was very private. We hardly saw anyone on our beach and never saw the homeowners the whole time we were there. The unit had a beautiful large 2 sink vanity; it also had a walk in closet and plenty of towels for us to use. We felt so lucky to stay here, and all the neighboring homes were very high end (and quiet). The kitchen and dining area fit our needs perfectly. The King size bed is two twin beds pushed together so as long as you're not positioned in the center - it's very comfortable. We would definitely stay here again... and hope to be back soon."

  • Spectacular view

"The condo was perfect and we had more room than we needed. Clean, well-equipped and well maintained with a serviceable kitchen and updated bathrooms (3!) You might be tempted to bring various things but you don't need to. There were plenty of high quality beach towels, beach chairs, even a beach umbrella. Previous guests had left behind enough staples and condiments to make it easy to cook, and you can get groceries right next door, although the food land in Mauna Lani was cheaper. The building manager was lovely and put a small bouquet of flowers in the elevator every day. It's also super close to two of the best beaches we've ever experienced., Hapuna and Beach 69, and easy driving distance to charming farmers' markets in Waimea. But it's all about the view. We whale/sunset watched and star gazed on the balcony, then watched the sunrise from the back gallery. Just spectacular."

  • Fantastic Location for Families

"This Condo was absolutely fantastic! We came to the Big Island for a wedding and rented this unit with 2 other families. We had 6 adults, one toddler, and two infants (3 & 6 mos.) and stayed in the unit for 7 nights. First impressions: Clean spaces, easy transactions (door lock is electronic and codes are emailed to you), fully stocked kitchen (Including tupperware! A godsend that so many other rentals we have been in lack!), easy to understand guide booklet. BBQ works great. Second impressions: The layout works great for multiple families, even those with small children as one of the rooms has a trundle bed, and the unit comes with one pack-n-play. As far as kids waking others up in the night goes - it was amazing how sound-proof (well...resistant anyway) the walls were. Some of it was probably spending all day in the sun, some of it was probably gorging ourselves on food, but we all slept quite well even when the little ones woke up in the night. The pool is just a quick stroll from the unit and was quite nice. Third Impressions: The "private" beach that is part of the Mauna Lani properties is excellent, but in terms of overall ease, the beach at the Fairmont was within an 8 minute walk, and had a much calmer "cove" area where the kids could just sit on the sand and not get smacked around by waves. You are not allowed to use the lounge chairs/cabanas at the Fairmont (reserved for guests), but we easily made due with towels from the condo. The beach chairs and snorkel equipment (including fins!) provided were also great to have on hand. The condo also has tons of towels. Final impressions: This unit absolutely made our stay in Hawaii an A+ experience. While I'm sure there are plenty of nice units scattered about the island, we found this one to be absolutely perfect. Excellent price, excellent amenities & excellent location. The owner Carolyn was always very responsive via email and helpful with any of our concerns. If we travel to the island in the future with a group of people, this unit will be our first choice. No question."
