  • Charming, rustic, peaceful!

"My husband and I spent a week in Heide and Jeffrey's charming cabin above Captain Cook. The cabin exceeded all of my expectations, and we had a wonderful, relaxing time. The kitchen has everything one needs to prepare meals, and we really enjoyed the fresh fruit, homemade bread, and jelly that was waiting for us on arrival. Heide suggested we try the Keei Cafe for supper, and it was the best meal we had on our entire trip, although we also enjoyed the Coffee Shack and Cafe Florian for breakfast. We slept so well! The upstairs bed and pillows were just right for us, and we dropped off to frog-song at night, and woke up to bird-song in the morning. Our one regret was that we only stayed for a week! Thank you, Heide and Jeffrey, for making our first trip to the Big Island such a memorable one!"

  • Comfortable place with the view!

"If you're looking for a basic, comfortable and cozy place with a view that is away from it all...this is the place. Our small family of three thoroughly enjoyed spending time by the water stacking lava rocks and watching the waves crash. There was a bit of a snag with the water supply. However, Jon was quick to respond and tried to make things working again for us. He also has offered some refund for the inconvenience we went through. We hope to come back in the near future!"

  • Beautiful home in rural area

"The house is lovely and offers panoramic views of ocean, mountains and lava fields. I would definitely recommend this property if you know you will be traveling around the island as it is conveniently located between Kailua-Kona and Hilo, whilst yet being on the sunnier west coast of the Big Island. The drive down Milolii Rd can be a bit tricky as it is quite steep and winding the first time around, so be careful."

  • Breathtaking, serene, tranquil

"Kai Ea was incredible and worth every penny (which it is very reasonably priced to begin with). The views are incredible and it is the most peaceful place I have ever stayed. You feel like you are on your own private island. The inside of the home is beautiful and spacious as well as the outside living space. The outdoor shower, AMAZING!! You will not be disappointed. I wish that there had been a dresser or luggage rack of some sort in the 2nd bedroom, it was a little annoying having to live out of my giant suitcase(s) on the floor (somehow I survived) HA! Also, there is a second apartment/O'Hana on the property that is occupied, but we did not hear nor see the people who live there. Kitchen was fully and beautifully stocked, a true chef's kitchen! My dad and I bought food at Costco and Target in Kona and only ate out once. Harry, the owner, was delightful over the phone and apologized for the bed in the 2nd bedroom not being made upon our arrival. You will NOT be disappointed, but do realized that it is about an hour's drive from the airport/Kona, but the drive is scenic and the roads fun to drive. I will be back~Kai Ea has a part of my heart~!"
