  • A beautiful, clean and well-appointed home south of Kailua-Kona

"When we searched the VRBO site for a vacation home on the Big Island, we came across Deb and Terry’s listing. Upon arrival, we found the home to be much more than we expected. It is a beautiful, well-kept home with a tremendous view. The place is clean bright and airy and looks like it was recently redone. We were tickled with our choice and pleased that this couple took such pride in their vacation home. It is well stocked with all the conveniences including GE appliances, dishwasher, toaster oven, toaster, coffeemaker and even a gas BBQ grill. For longer stays, there is a washer and dryer in a utility room off the garage and they have beach and water gear available for use. The beds are very comfortable and there are windows and French doors to allow plenty of sunlight and air circulation. The wrap around deck is wonderful and we practically lived in the comfortable deck chairs (and table) on the lanai in the mornings and evenings. The lanai is well protected from the sun and a cool breeze flows around the corners of the house. All the fixtures in the home are near new along with all the ceiling fans. There is a new Smart Vizio television and a WiFi router in the living room area which allowed us to keep in touch with our friends and family. We also chose this home for its location but you will need a rental car. While it seems a little remote and one has to drive to the nearest grocery store or restaurant, it is centrally located about half way down the Big Island. Travel time back to Kona is about one and a half hours and travel time to Kiluaea Volcano and Hilo is about the same. One can get a good feel of Island Hawaii by staying here. It is a rare treat for those who wish to avoid crowds, and experience the peace of old Hawaii. Deb and her sister were always in touch with us whenever we had a question about the house or about the area. Both were more than helpful in suggesting things we should do to make our stay more enjoyable. Deb suggested stopping at Costco to buy provisions since they are cheaper there. Her sister suggested several eating establishments that turned out to be the best. We ate at Mi’s, Kona Brewing, and Quinn’s in Kailua; and the Volcano Winery, O’helo, and Volcano House in the Kilaua area. Mehe’s was about 11 miles down the road and we ate there several times. Thank you Deb, Terry, and Bert for allowing us to enjoy your beautiful home for the almost 2 weeks we were in Hawaii."

  • Fabulous home, location, and experience! Best vacation yet !!!

"The title "Private Plantation Paradise" says it all!!! Upon arrival, my wife and I were completely amazed at the luxury of this home. the quality of the furnishings, the exotic décor, the 5 acre property, the layout, the mahogany hardwood floors and framings, I could go on and on! I must say I have not enjoyed a vacation this much in my life, and it was mostly because of the fantastic home that Donna has opened to enjoy. Absolutely gorgeous!! We cooked excellent meals in the chefs kitchen and BBQ'ed steaks and ribs on the grill... thank you so much Donna and Barb, very well done I must say!!! We will visit again soon - oh yes, we also enjoyed the Big island :-))) BnH"
