  • Loved spring break at the cove

"We felt like we knew what to expect from the pictures and the other reviews, but I have to say the experience, the house and the view were even better than we expected. The view from the infinity pool was amazing and we loved the hot tub. We were there to witness spectacular sunsets on 5 of 7 nights. We slept to the sound of waves crashing on the rocks every night. The frontage down to the ocean is a little steep and rocky, but it was no problem for me and my family (2 teenage boys - 14 and 16). The seas were calm enough a few days for us to hop in and snorkel in the cove. There was a sea turtle and a variety of colorful tangs, wrasses and huge parrot fish hanging out there. I'd guess its 15-20 feet deep as soon as you jump in. A couple of rock structures made a ledge for a decent way out of the water. You have to use common sense though, there were a couple days the seas were way too rough. Safety first! The location of the house was a nice compromise for us since we wanted to visit the green sand beach and the volcano & lava tube on the south and south east part of the island as well as hit some of the attractions in Kona. I believe the nearest store was about 25 minutes south, while Walmart and other shopping was about a 50 minutes north. Plan your shopping and stock the fridge and cupboards. The house has everything you need to cook or barbecue on the Weber, there was even a strainer to make spaghetti or Mac n Cheese. We packed light, all carry-on, due to the full laundry available there. The house really had everything we needed. Fantastic place. Highly recommended!"

  • We loved our stay and hope to return!

"We loved our stay at Charles Cope's cottage (Hotel Pa'amalu) - beautiful location and very peaceful. It was hard for us to leave after our 2-night stay. Charles greeted us on our first night and shared a few special places to visit as well as local restaurants. The cottage was very clean and comfortable and perfect for us (we were trying to avoid the condo option) and had everything we needed, including beach gear (snorkeling, etc.) Our favorite spot to relax at the cottage was the lanai, which overlooked a water fountain, attracting so many colorful birds throughout the day. The beaches nearby are beautiful and great for snorkeling. The cottage is located in the heart of Kona coffee country as well as quite close to the Place of Refuge (Pu'uhonua) - a must visit for learning about Hawaii's history and traditions. We would enthusiastically recommend the cottage to our friends and family (which we did!)."

  • Great view and south Kona location

"Loved the privacy of this rental off the beaten path and not too far away. We stayed here in September and had great snorkeling locations on this side of the island. It rained part of the day most of the time we were here. That is why you snorkel and hike in the mornings. As for the house, we really missed a covered lanai to sit under when it rained. The deck in the back didn't have enough cover to stay out of the rain. The other issue we had was the size and location of the TV. When watching TV from bed you have to look down to it. There were no other issues and the place was great at a decent price!"

  • Vacation in paradise

"We are an extended and international family, and we mindfully enjoyed one week in this quiet corner of the paradise. This is not for tourists who enjoy Disney like paradise, this is an authentic home with a kind discrete host who made sure that we had everything we needed. Anna was always available to guide us for activities, and the house even had snorkeling equipment so we could enjoy an amazing experience and swimming with dolphins (from afar so we don't stress them out) The house has everything you need and some more, is very clean and the views are magnificent! We enjoyed the patio the most, very comfy, right in the middle of a luxurious tropical jungle. With friendly geckos and no mosquitoes! In the end, some of this place's peace transferred into us to carry and nourish us into our busy lives. We told Anna that we will come back with family and more friends! Mahalo!"
