  • QUIET OASIS

"We very much enjoyed our stay in this vacation home on the west side of the Big Island! It was nothing fancy, just quaint with a beautiful view of the ocean! It was exactly what we needed after a death in our family forced us to reschedule this vacation. (The owner was very gracious in accommodating our revised plans and did not charge us for the changes.) The property was clean and seemed well-maintained. We especially liked the two separate bedrooms so us parents had a separate room from the kids. And the kids each had their own bed. We were surprised by the catchment water system that they have but were supplied with bottled water for our drinking needs by the owner. Thank you. The hillside community is peaceful and safe. As others mentioned, this house has a steep driveway, so we parked at the end of it and walked down the steps alongside the driveway and then up the steps alongside the house to the front door. The home is far from grocery stores and restaurants but we had planned for that. We absolutely loved the Fruit Stand for most of our grocery needs. The home made a great base for our exploring the island from Kona to the Southern Point to Volcanoes National Park. One note, the pictures made it seem that the kayak for use was a 3 person one, but it is not. It only holds 1 person safely. We did use it a few times. The pebble beach that is at the bottom of the hill in this community is quite nice and a great place to swim, snorkel and kayak. We also made use of the beach chairs and mats and snorkeling gear! One day when we stayed more local, we were thrilled to see a gray seal swim up to a small snorkeling beach in Captain Cook! We would recommend this home to anyone wanting to explore the island, enjoy some peace and quiet and doesn't mind driving for food and supplies."

  • all what it is described. spacious, clean, comfotable upper level house to yourself.

"Todd greated and welcomed us. He made sure everything was ok. A bowl of fruit was waiting for us and most condiments available in a very well provided kitchen. Easy to find using the directions. You have the unit to yourself. The main house is a way away. This is not a 5 star establishment, but it is clean and comfortable. The road down to the farm and the farm itself is best described as rustic as are most of these small old Kona coffee holdings in the area seem to be. It probally wont be long before the large corps start cobbling them up."

  • Amazing house

"We arrived to the house late at night when it was dark and we couldn't see a lot of a surroundings. I knew that the house is close to the beach and we could hear waves. But when I woke up next morning and stepped out to the living room, I was absolutely stunned. The house has a huge windows overlooking lanai and backyard, almost glass wall. I just stood there and couldn't believe my eyes. You practically have ocean in your backyard! The beach is almost private. There were more people there during weekend (and by more I mean 4-5 families), but during the week there were days when we were only people on the beach. Other reviewers mentioned that the house is bigger then it appears on the photos and it's absolutely true. The living room is spacious, has a big dining table and enough sitting options for the whole family if you want to relax inside. The lanai is big and has couple of dining tables and outdoor chairs to enjoy outdoor meals and glass of wine at sunsets (which, BTW, are absolutely amazing there). Kitchen is equipped with everything you might need. There is outdoor grill. There is snorkeling equipment and kayaks in the house. I highly recommend kayaking. The view from the sea is stunning too. The house is very clean and well kept. Owners, Chris and Tess, are always available , very accommodating and try really hard to solve any probleNadya M.m that might arise. We had a great time at the house and I'd love to come back and stay there again."

  • Just what we needed

"The privacy and rural location of the property was just what we needed. The house is roomy and the ourdoor space relaxing. We enjoyed both the pool and hot tub. The rental process was smooth and hassel-free. Thank you Sally!"
