  • Winter Vacation

"Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The rental at Casa de Emdeko was just like the photos. Very big and clean with plenty of amenities. We cooked one meal in and had everything we needed. We used one one of the communal grills and found it very easy to go back and forth from the room since it was located right outside the room. The pool and beach were perfect for when we did not want to drive to find a beach. And not crowded at all. There are many shoreline access points nearby though. It is a little far to walk to the shops/restaurants in Kona but that was not a issue for us. We did have some AC issues during our stay. Management was responsive and even brought us some fans. We found cell phone service was non-existent inside, I assume because of the building construction type. It was easy to hook up to the internet and use that for phone calls (or go outside). Wi-fi was great throughout the apartment. I would recommend this place!"

  • Great Casa de Emdeko

"Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Property was beautifully landscaped. Location of unit was perfect. The weather was great but the swimming pool would have been a bit more enjoyable if the water would have been a bit warmer."

  • Good value

"We enjoyed the Casa De Emdeko location and facilities. This is our third stay in the complex. We are giving it 4 stars because of the location and complex amenities. This unit is on the north side of the complex and gets direct sun on the patio in the winter. It was very warm in the afternoons but there are roll down shades that help. There is a step to get to the front door and a step from the walkway to the back patio. The air conditioning worked well and there are ceiling fans in all the rooms. The queen size bed was comfortable. Because it is away from Alii Drive it is relatively quiet. The refrigerator has an automatic ice maker. There is no tub (fine by us) and a nicely tiled shower with a grab bar. The kitchen had lots of pots and pans and utensils. It is easy to cook all meals. There are two TVs but only one remote which only worked on the bedroom TV. The decor is dated. The unit was rather dark (low wattage bulbs and missing bulbs), especially the kitchen. There was no password protected internet access for the unit. When we asked about this the owner said that she was between providers and suggested we use another units unprotected access, not cool. Hawaii has bugs and we had large cockroaches come in under the screen door if we left the front door open. We would recommend this unit with some reservations."

  • A delightful property, beautifully kept and with very compatible neighbours.

"We spent a lovely 2 weeks at Casa de Emdeko. We were warmly welcomed by many of the other residents, most of whom apparently return year after year. We spent a very enjoyable Thanksgiving pot luck dinner at the complex and found everyone very welcoming. It was extremely quiet during the daytime, and we often wondered where everyone had gone, but they all appeared at sunset, and that's when the party began! The grounds were very well maintained and the pools, both fresh and salt water, were most enjoyable. There were some renovations to one of the suites going on while we were there which were quite noisy, and the water was turned off twice, but not for very long periods. The unit is in very good repair, and has most of the necessities for a relaxing visit. We particularly enjoyed the lanai and had almost all of our meals there. It was lovely to have the pull-down blinds, as the morning sun was quite hot. We could have used a few more dishes, and a salad spinner, and we did buy and leave some wine glasses, but otherwise, everything was more than adequate, and all of the best quality. There were lots of linens and some very nice swim towels. We did have a little issue with the garbage disposal, but with one phone call the problem was quickly and efficiently resolved. It was our first visit to the Big Island of Hawaii, and we enjoyed our very interesting (but long) day at the volcano and the many other adventures to various other parts of the island. We now understand why it is called the "Big Island"! and will likely pay a return visit some day. Thank you, N., for your hospitality. :)"
