  • Can't beat this spot

"This was my first visit to the lovely Big Island so I had no idea where the best location to stay was and I must say we got really lucky with this place. The location is prime; literally right on the water and close enough to the restaurants and attractions yet not so close that you get all of the noise & foot traffic that comes along with being near the entertainment. It's important to understand that this house is older and has history as it has been in the owner's family since the 60s so you must respect the things that come with older places. Still, it has great character, plenty of parking, towels, silverware, snorkel gear, and just about everything you need to enjoy your time in beautiful Kona. Tim was great to work with and the house was in expected shape upon entrance. So while this isn't the Four Seasons, if you want a quiet getaway where all you can hear are the crashing waves as you sit and watch the cruise ships disembark for the night, you've found your spot. I will be remembering this place for future visits to Kona as we really appreciated our stay."

  • Wonderful venue for a family vacation

"We had a great stay at this house. We were there for 6 nights and had six people with us. There was plenty of room for everyone to feel comfortable and not cramped and for one of our couples, it was their "babymoon" so a lot of privacy for them in their own suite worked out perfect. We were able to see whales off the top lanai one morning and they were breaching which was very cool. Several turtles were easily seen each time we went snorkeling as well as lots of interesting fish species. Peter and Darla did a great job of having everything documented as to where to find things at the house as well as favorite destinations on the island and directions as to how to get there from beaches to activities to dining suggestions. Everything was close by (within a 10 min. drive from most shops and beaches). We were able to go running several times while we were there as directly in front of the house was the road with very wide shoulders and the views along the ocean front were incredibly wonderful. There were also several "toys" that we were able to use such as body boards, fins and snorkels, plenty of beach towels and chairs for the beach. Overall, everyone had a wonderful time and I would highly recommend this location. The only caveat I would warn someone about is just be prepared for the surf of the ocean being pretty loud. Just know that going in and you'll be great."

  • Family vacation

"We loved our stay here. It's a perfect location short drive to town. We enjoyed the amazing sunsets every night. Our kids loved having their own pools and bedrooms with their own bathrooms. I would recommend this house to anyone with kids old enough to swim."

  • Exceptional!!

"We spent three weeks enjoying this lovely house, that has an exceptional layout and location! We have rented many homes over the years on VRBO, a few of which are on the Big Island, and we have to say this house was one of the very best. You simply can not beat the location; it is a nice short walk to town, but you will be hard pressed to want to leave the house! We had worried initially about being on the main road through town, but found it was very easy to get in and out, with a side street close by that hopped you up and away from town. We spent a lot of time enjoying the oceanfront pool and large pool deck with it's many comfy loungers. The ocean view is spectacular and the sunsets are stunning. We watched pods of dolphins playing out front and passing by daily. As avid scuba divers, we enjoy the underwater world and found the little reef right out front to be an excellent snorkelling location (a little care needs to be taken to enter and exit, but the reef is very nice and there is a abundant variety of fish right there in your 'front yard'). We found the house to be private and peaceful, with soothing ocean waves lulling you to sleep at night. Many nights we enjoyed a BBQ dinner on the deck and found the kitchen to be well stocked with everything you need to make a nice meal. The hot tub was a fantastic way to end the day; it was so nice to be able to relax, watch the ocean waves and star gaze. The house itself is unique, in that it has 3 good sized bedrooms, each having their own ensuite bathroom and there is another full bathroom downstairs---this is such a great feature especially when travelling with friends or family--privacy for all! We would not hesitate to recommend this house at all and we plan to book it again for our next trip to the Big Island."
