  • NIce Home with great location! Responsive owners

"The house was as advertized. Great location close to town and close to beautiful blue waters of the Pacific. We were able watch the 4th of July fireworks from the beach access right down the street. The home was very comfortable and spacious. The a/c boxes in the bedrooms were certainly needed at this time of year so we were glad the house had them. The pool was well maintained and was a nice place to relax. The owner responded very quickly to couple small concerns we had which was great. We fell in love with the Big Island! It's such a wonderful place with so much to see and do. We can't wait to get back! We would recommend the Hula Hut for a great spot close to the center of Kona. We are Homeaway/VRBO owners ourselves and expect a certain amount of amenities and the Hula Hut delivered. Thanks Becky!!!!"

  • Great place for a family reunion

"We had a wonderful week with my two brothers and their families. We had 11 total - the adults stayed up on the second floor and all the kids bunked down below, which was a great setup. Hale Honu is perfectly situated right on the ocean and we went snorkeling almost every day right in front of the house, or next door at Magic Sands. We ate in a lot and used the BBQ grill and 2nd floor deck to eat dinner and watch the sun go down. Peter and Darla have stocked the laundry room with tons of snorkeling gear, boogie boards, beach towels, etc. so you don't need to bring anything - and their instructions are really meticulous and detailed. Only thing I would caution is if you are a light sleeper, the ocean is pretty loud, especially if you have to leave the windows open because it is hot. For us it was not a bother and I would not hesitate to come back in the future."

  • Lovely quiet tropical garden setting

"My husband and I and 3 adult children and 2 grandchildren spent a week in Kevin's airy home. The setting was perfect for us. The best parts were: being able to stroll across the lawn, go out the gate and snorkel off the rocks about 50 yards from our back porch; walking about a 1/4 mile to White Sands beach, or strolling to the end of the property and swimming in the pool or watching the sunset from the pool edge. The house itself was comfortable and well designed for our group and had everything we needed. The weather was very hot and humid during our stay so there were times when the lack of air conditioning was a negative. I would definitely return to this home."

  • Can't beat this spot

"This was my first visit to the lovely Big Island so I had no idea where the best location to stay was and I must say we got really lucky with this place. The location is prime; literally right on the water and close enough to the restaurants and attractions yet not so close that you get all of the noise & foot traffic that comes along with being near the entertainment. It's important to understand that this house is older and has history as it has been in the owner's family since the 60s so you must respect the things that come with older places. Still, it has great character, plenty of parking, towels, silverware, snorkel gear, and just about everything you need to enjoy your time in beautiful Kona. Tim was great to work with and the house was in expected shape upon entrance. So while this isn't the Four Seasons, if you want a quiet getaway where all you can hear are the crashing waves as you sit and watch the cruise ships disembark for the night, you've found your spot. I will be remembering this place for future visits to Kona as we really appreciated our stay."
