  • Recommended - walk around Kona

"We stayed in Kona for four nights, and wanted a place where we could walk around town. This condo was as described, with easy check-in and a clean, tidy space. We arrived a little early and since the room was ready, they let us in early. We rarely heard noise from neighbors - perhaps a chair or footsteps a few times, but certainly not voices. The lanai was nice - on the west side facing the ocean, looking across Ali'i Drive. You could watch people walking by, but they weren't so close that you lacked privacy. The Kona Islander Inn is not a resort, but this was a very nice value if you don't need posh. The (small) shower an the toilet are separated from the counter/sink area, which is in shared space with the kitchen sink and small fridge. You wouldn't want to cook meals here, but it was nice to have a place to keep drinks and snacks. We would stay here again. Thank you, Ann."

  • The condo was wonderful and clean! It felt like home yet sofisticated at the same time.

"We liked the roominess of Mark and Mary's condo. With me son's teenage friend staying with us, it was nice to have the three full bathrooms. The TV attached to the stairs is genius! We could watch from any angle, from the kitchen to the lani! It is very tastefully decorated, such that one feels like they are somewhere special, but not so formal that it doesn't feel comfortable. It feels like home. The condo was well-stocked. There were things there we didn't know we needed until we got there! I appreciated all of the high quality beach supplies, saving us money in high priced rentals. The upstairs bathroom was amazing and the kitchen is incredible in that it was beautiful and equally functional in a small space. It was well stocked and easy to use. My only complaint was that the upstairs shower didn't seal which got the floor very wet a couple of times and the loft lani was not as private as I thought it'd be (though that is not the fault of Mark and Mary). Otherwise, it was a very pleasant stay and a beautiful condo. Such a great deal too!!"

  • Just as described! Wheelchair Friendly.

"We searched many sites for a condo in the main walking area of town, with a pool, elevators, and workable with a wheelchair... and chose this unit. You will find that there are very few locations that can fill all three of these. We were familiar with the location of the building from an earlier vacation to Kona, but had not been past the storefronts on the first floor. 503 is just as pictured and described, and has all the little extras you may need for time at the beach, including coolers and folding chairs. It also has a first rate view out the front when you are home. Turtles, dolphins, dug-out's, and iron man swimmers could be seen all day long from the living room sofa. The covered parking is a great extra. My wife is in a wheelchair; and this unit has a queen bed, which allows for more clearance for walkers and wheel chairs in the bedroom - and Lisa has a tub/shower chair available for use. We brought our own suction grip grab bars just to be sure. With an assistant, the entire property worked well...we could get the wheelchair around, the halls, the elevator, pool, sidewalks, and out into the town with no issues. Without an assistant, my wife did well in the unit, halls, elevator, and pool; but had issues working with the main lobby doors the elevator. The height of the lock, in combination with the strength of the door closers ended up repeatedly trapping her until someone else came down the elevator or entered the lobby. This is not likely to be an issue for most people, but when I was scuba diving, this ended up limiting her ability to get to the pool as frequently as she would have liked. Overall - wheelchair or not - this is a great property."
