  • Comfortable & Affordable

"We've stayed in Kailua-Kona many times, mostly on the waterfront. Now wanted to save money, so tried KP. Pros: Very clean. Comfortable bed, plenty of pillows, VERY large bedroom with room for suitcases. Air conditioning, important for us. Good strong ceiling fans. 2 bathrooms- in condos we usually find minimal counter space so it was nice for us to each have a bathroom. Dishwasher. Nice lanais, decent views for location. Walk to Don's, Huggo's etc no parking hassles. Very quiet. Could be better: Older cooking pots/utensils/cutlery. Need better fry pan. Kitchen a tight squeeze near fridge/micro. Strong pesticide smell 1/wk. Cons: Difficult parking garage, lots of posts/cement walls, hard to pull in/out, we scraped car on ramp. Best with compact car."

  • Very nice property, walking distance to "downtown" Kono, shops, resturants and more.

"The property was as listed. Marty and Paulette were a dream to work with. We made a reservation for a time after a cruise around Hawaii. The cruise was canceled. They let us rebook so we were able to do the cruise after rebooking that, then stay in Kona. The change of dates went like clockwork. Very nicely furnished, next to beach and ocean. Beautiful sunsets. Walking distance to "downtown" Kona for dinning and shops. Close to airport and sightseeing around the island. We used this property for a nine day stay as home base to explore the Big Island. Work out great."

  • Great place to stay for one or two people.

"My husband found the listing for the Little Surf Shack and all the reviews had five stars. So we booked for two weeks. Easy to find with our GPS, located high up and back from the Kona Airport. No plane noise, an expansive view, the house has lovely gardens, enough storage for our items, a small refrigerator, coffee maker and other items you want. We prepared our breakfasts using the hot plate and pans, and there is a grill on the lanai that we did not use, the lanai provides additional space to walk out on or relax at the table. Plenty of towels are provided. There was a beach umbrella, two beach chairs, and two boogie boards which we used nearly daily. The neighborhood is residential and we enjoyed our stay always looking forward to returning to the the Little Surf Shack to relax until the next day of adventure on this our now favorite Hawaiian island the Big Island. Thanks again Amy for providing wonderful accommodations and your Aloha spirit."

  • Fabulous condo facing the best snorkelling beach ever!

"Loved the condo. Spacious, clean, light and airy - the sea breezes blew through it to keep it cool even though it was pretty hot when we were there. Gorgeous pool and surrounding area, we used it every day. Lots of thoughtful touches to make our vacation special - water shoes, kids life jackets, beach chairs and umbrella. There was snorkelling kit too (we didn't need to borrow it as we had our own), body boards and paddle board - meant to use them but never quite got round to it! Best of all though was the beach opposite - not the prettiest to look at but nice facilities (showers, snorkelling rental if you need it) and AMAZING snorkelling. The water is not that deep so you're up close to the fish, like being in an aquarium. And sea turtles too. Duane was super responsive and easy to deal with. The onsite manager Sonya was very helpful, organised, great recommendations for shopping and restaurants. We chose the place because it was away from the big resorts - close enough to civilisation when we wanted it but without the crowds. We visited several beaches in our 4 days there, the kayaking across kealakekua bay (with the dolphins!) was a highlight. Great trip with Kona Boys. Highly recommend the condo."
