  • Great place with a magic view!

"This is real germ. Very cleaver layout, with a nice kitchen with everything you need. We are a young family and the place was a perfect for us to explore the region. 2steps and Kahaluu in the morning for world class snorkeling, the northern beaches in the afternoon and the most perfect sun set from the lanai (we saw the green flash!!!) . Excellent value and highly recommended. Note, this is Kona, and we went in July, so it was hot!!! But the fans allowed us to sleep well every night."

  • Lovely house right on the beach!

"The Hale Honu studio was fantastic! The location is perfect, about 3.5 miles south of Kailua-Kona. It is literally RIGHT ON THE OCEAN! The kitchen was small but well-stocked, and the two burner stove was completely manageable for making easy meals. There's also a grill that we used most nights in order to avoid turning on the stove and heating things up inside! There's plenty of space to spread out - breakfast nook, kitchen area, large and comfy bed, and a living area with TV, etc. (but really, who wants to watch the TV when you can watch the ocean?!). There was also plenty of patio furniture to sit and enjoy the view. It was really nice that the studio had a small window-unit AC. Lower levels don't get as much of the nice ocean breeze, so the window unit kept the studio comfortable and made for a great nights sleep every night. Much of the Big Island is lacking in beaches, but there is a great beach right next door to the studio that has great swimming and snorkeling. Close proximity to Safeway, KTA, and Costco made for easy grocery shopping. Probably not best for visitors without cars, unless you rented a bike. It is still 3.5 miles into town (for eating out, shopping, etc.), which is a pretty long walk! I'd recommend either having a car or renting bikes for the week. Peter was fantastic to work with in getting everything organized and ready for our family trip!"
