  • Great Vacation

"Our family had a fantastic vacation at Kanaloa, Condo 3601. The unit, view, and amenities were great and we look forward to visiting again."

  • Great place to stay---close to everything.

"We needed a place to stay close to Kailua and found the Kona Makai to be just just right--only 5 minutes by car or 20 minute walk to town. Our top floor unit had a loft for some extra teen room and the two twins in the 2nd bedroom provided great sleeping flexibility. Kitchen was well stocked as promised and we cooked at the BBQs most nights--never having to wait and enjoying the fraternity with others. For sunset, we joined the others by the water since our balcony didn't view that direction--but all good again with just a short walk and plenty of plastic glasses in stock. They are serious about the pool rules with a vigilant manager on site--no kids after 8pm and all out by 9pm. Never had a problem with parking, though spots are assigned and you will have to walk a bit. Can always double park a bit for loading & unloading. Accessing the water for snorkeling just off the rocks there was not hard for adults (watch others first!), but not something for kids. Just down the road was the perfect easy access place though (Kahaluu Bay). Long sandy beaches aren't to be found in the south, but about an hour north is plenty (Hapuna perfect for boogie boarding). And don't miss the Volcano National Park! Overall, great location and nice place to stay!"

  • Almost Perfect Getaway

"The "ohana" (guest house) is absolutely gorgeous; stunning view; everything anyone could want. The guest house is large, well furnished, the kitchen ample and user friendly - stocked with everything one could need. The infinity pool was delightful and the view is to die for. Why "almost perfect"? The only negative of the whole property are the coqui frogs, which are obviously not the fault of the owners! But when the weather is wet, they are rather loud from dusk to dawn. If you are a light sleeper, this could be a problem, but most nights they weren't too bad. Other than that, the property is extremely private and very quiet. The location is also perfect - just minutes away from Kona and grocery shopping. We will definitely go back!"

  • This place is amazing. We got the much needed relaxation we needed here.

"My favorite time was enjoying my coffee from the lanai. The view at sunset is absolutely perfect, and we actually got to see the "green flash." We were greeted by Turtles, and dolphins daily, and got to see a whale pod. The location is close to downtown and just a stroll to the beach. We would definitely book here again."
