  • Family Trip to Paradise

"We absolutely loved our stay in the Shogun Home. We were celebrating a family birthday with 7 adults and 3 kids. We could not have asked for a better place to celebrate. I would say that our greatest memories from the trip came from this home. We spent each morning drinking coffee looking at the ocean, each afternoon swimming in the pool, and each evening watching the sunset from the lanai. I cannot stress enough how gorgeous the view was from this home. The floor felt so open with the wall of windows looking out at the ocean. The house was well stocked with everything we needed. The apartment downstairs was perfect for the family member without children. We loved our stay here! The kids were in heaven exploring all this house had to offer."

  • AMAZING condo with GORGEOUS views!! (Please read if you have mobile babies though!)

"We had two families stay in this penthouse condo, with 5 people in each family, so 10 people total. This condo was perfect for our small family reunion! Absolutely amazing views! Everything we needed already stocked (and some we didn't know we needed!), including all kitchen supplies, extra toiletries, extra games/cards/binoculars, sand toys, extra beach towels, laundry detergent, and more. Parking was underneath the bundling, and a breeze. We were close to White Sands beach, and a great snorkeling beach, less than two miles from each. Close to downtown, but not close enough to be loud, or get into all the traffic. We used the facility pool, outdoor grills, and outdoor lawn areas. We also enjoyed looking through the tide pools each day when the tide was out. Holly was beyond helpful! When I asked her about a pack'n'play for my baby, we showed up to not only a brand new pack'n'play, but also, a brand new stroller! As wonderful as the condo was (we watched sea turtles from our very LARGE lanai every day), I do have to give a caution to families wanting to stay here with very young children. We had a baby (20 months) who is mobile, and I was not comfortable with her on the lanai during our entire time. She couldn't reach the top of the barrier, but the slats were wide enough that she could put her leg through. Since we were on the 4th floor, I was very worried! The barrier outside the condo (around the rest of the building) was worse, it was even wider! If you have older children, our next oldest was 6, this won't be a problem at all, it just was a concern with our baby. So, if you are taking a very young child, like less than 3 years old, I would caution you about the condo's lanai and building barriers."

  • Location is Everything

"Had an enjoyable time and really appreciated the location: crashing surf, nice park next door on one side -- great beach on the other. The bed and bathroom were just fine, but the kitchen and some of the furnishings need work. Had a constant battle with small ants on the kitchen counter (keep your food in the refrigerator or on the glass table) and the glassware, "non-stick" pans & dishes need to be replaced. Don't expect a lot of condiments or cooking needs - you will need to purchase your own. Also the storage drawers in the closet need to be ripped out an be replaced - kinda shabby, but not a deal breaker. The TV was great for watching the World Series in HD. Be aware that this is on the THIRD FLOOR and there is NO elevator. Lugging heavy suitcases up and down was not pleasant, and my wife badly sprained her ankle on the bottom step the first day we were there (thank you Kona emergency room for the quick treatment & crutches!) This is a very good property, but it's no Shangri-La."

  • Beautiful view and waves, waves, waves describes it perfectly!

"A great place to be. Sat on the Lanai and watched the waves and boats early morning. Saw lots of Canoes, fishing boats and the cruise ships. We kept pretty busy so mostly we enjoyed the mornings. This Island even though it's the "Big Island" we could get anywhere in a couple of hours. Didn't even turn on the TV until the last night, mostly sat and listened to the waves. Quiet area, hardly saw the other guests, beautiful sunsets. Just as advertised. The one small problem we had Kathie got it taken care of right away. Don't forget to check out all the stuff in the closet. We didn't realize the binoculars were there until the last day(they were in plain site on the shelf) beach chairs, coolers etc. Would go back over and over, not sure I can get my Husband that far from home again but he also loved it. We did the Helicopter tour fire and falls out of Hilo, the Volcano night time tour, zip lining at Akaka Falls, snorkeling at a few different beaches and just driving and stopping when we wanted. Saw the painted church, the national parks, black sand beach, sea turtles etc. On our last day we went to the Chocolate farm (Original Hawaii Chocolate factory) it was really interesting and very informative. My Grandson is fascinated with the pictures of the pods growing right on the trunk and limbs of the tree. Just driving around you see beautiful vistas, so glad we went."
