  • Romantic, clean and overall good customer service!

"We decided to stay at Kona Shores (#116) for our honeymoon and we are so glad that we did. The place was just beautiful and so accommodating. Everything you could possibly need is in this condo, from kitchen items to extra bedding and even a nice TV and DVD player! We were able to save some money and enjoy breakfast there every morning, which was so nice. The condo is in walking distance to a lot and the first few days we were able to walk to shops and restaurants and get to see things that you do not see when having a vehicle. The condo we stayed in was extra nice because it was at the far end by our parking spot so we didn't have a lot of traffic right outside our door and also the laundry room was right by our door, so that was nice! There is even a coffee place called "Green Flash Coffee" right next to Kona Shores and I thought that was pretty cool! I am a clean freak and I was very impressed with how clean everything was. Glen and Ginny were so helpful and very informative; they were always easy to get a hold of and very honest. The pool was so quiet and never busy, usually it was just us there. We would go to the pool almost every day to swim in the morning and watch the breathtaking sunset at night. The other people staying there were very friendly and most of them go there every year. With being from Alaska, we aren't used to all the Hawaiian heat, but the air conditioner in the condo worked wonderfully and we were able to have a great sleep every night. We walked (about 20 min) to go to Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. and their food was delicious! We were able to sit on the deck each time, overlooking the beautiful ocean and its waves. We also enjoyed Outback Steakhouse which isn't far from Bubba Gumps. Humpy's Big Island Restaurant was yummy too, and we were able to sit outside on the top deck in the evening and it was romantic. I LOVE coffee, so we walked to Starbucks the days we didn't have a car, it was quite far for walking but worth it ;) driving, it only took about 8 minutes. So glad that we were able to rent a vehicle for half our stay and were able to drive and see the other side of the island and take a helicopter tour. That was exciting! I love Kona and cannot wait to go back someday. We were very pleased with the whole stay and would do it all over again in heartbeat. My husband made my honeymoon dream come to life! Thank you Glen & Ginny"

  • Loved our stay here!

"This was our first visit to the Big Island, and we spent a week here celebrating my birthday. We're not exactly the resort variety, and we like to immerse ourselves in the local culture. With that in mind, we found this place to be perfect in that aspect. Our favorite things about the unit: - As was mentioned in the other reviews, the large lanai. We spent most of our mornings and evenings here enjoying the view and the sounds of the surf. The lanai overlooks the famous Banyan Beach surf spot, and we enjoyed watching the surfers. The view from the living room and bedroom were excellent as well. - "Da Poke Shack" is right downstairs! This place is consistently ranked as some of the best poke on the Big Island, and it was the first place we ate upon arriving. - The unit is fully stocked (especially the kitchen). We're "foodies" so we didn't spend much time preparing food here. However, there were a few occasions where we made breakfast, as well as some fresh Kona coffee (there is a grinder and coffee maker), and we found everything we needed. We could have just as easily prepared food here all week with how well stocked it was. We also found the washer/dryer very useful as well as the laundry basket. - The free Wifi. - The air conditioner in the bedroom. We stayed here at the end of July, so there were a few nights we ran it when it was especially hot/humid. As somewhat of a side note, I believe somebody in another review mentioned it was on a 2 hour timer. It is actually a 12 hour one. - The Big Island Revealed book under the coffee table (among the many other useful guide books). This especially helped us with our exploration of the island. - The ample parking. A couple of other notes: - As a friendly note to future renters, the ceiling fans in the bedrooms are on speed switches with a scale of 0-4 (with 0 being off). In the excitement of everything, we set it at 4 the first night thinking this was the fastest setting. They only ran at medium speed though. It didn't occur to us until the next morning that 1 is actually the fastest setting. - Liane (the owner) was very responsive, helpful and friendly. We will undoubtedly consider her units first when we return to the Big Island. Thank you for making our stay a wonderful one!"

  • Wonderful view and all the comforts of home

"We spent five delightful nights in this property. Our favorite feature was the balcony with the fantastic view of the ocean and the sound of waves lapping the shore. We liked the location--near Kailua-Kona but not in the center of it. The condo has all of the comforts of home--fully functional kitchen, washer/dryer, nicely appointed bathroom, and wi-fi. If we come back to Kona, we will see if this property is available. Thanks, Ann!"

  • It was all we hoped to experience.

"The description of this home was spot on. The décor was delightful; the beds were comfortable; it was clean. The stroll down to the ocean was a real plus. The kitchen was complete and the Weber grill was available. The pool was the best! Not much of a breeze through the house which was an issue in that heat. We arrived between hurricanes and the owner responded quickly to my questions and concerns about how to care for the house during a hurricane. I was even told there was a local person I could call if there was an emergency. The hurricanes passed to the north and south and this house is in the lee of the island, so no issues at all. Besides, they were right, it is a well built sturdy home. I can see why they love it. I would stay there again. On a "needs improvement" note: the owner has reassured us they will put house numbers on the house in the driveway. And, trash really needs to go out Sunday evening as that pick up is way early on Monday morning."
