  • Awesome view Great stay

"The owners are absolutely awesome and very family oriented. I am rating my stay a 4 star because there were a few things that are not necessarily the property owners fault but un acceptable in my book. We arrived and the house was supposed to be open but it was not. We waited on the lanai for about an hour after arrival to get in but once inside we were very happy with the spaciousness of the property. The next day we left and when we returned we found that the key did not work!!!!! I ended up finding a way in through a unsecured screen window. There were many fruit tree that had fruit and Charles allowed us to pick and eat the papayas, bananas, avocados and macadamias. The kids had a blast searching the property for food. On the down side there were very many geckos in the house, they don’t bother me but my mom was terrified and did not sleep the whole vacation. The floors were extremely creaky especially in the hall to the master bedroom which also has the main bathroom so we were constantly waking up to kids using the facilities. Cockroaches and ants are a problem here as well. I was told in the beginning to keep it clean to avoid ants so we did, but I did not expect to wake up and realize my toothbrush would be swarming with ants (there was a colony on there no joke, I washed about 200 or more off before I could use it). I wish I had taken a picture…. The beach items were awesome but I would not use the snorkels and mask because they may not have been cleaned, so I brought my own, if there were cleaning supplies in the house and Clorox wipes I would have been happier. over all I would give Charles a 5-star rating and his property management company a 3-star rating. I would definitely stay here again because it feels like a home!"

  • Wonderfully comfortable and relaxing, gorgeous views and great amenities

"We would go back in a heartbeat, and definitely try to book this unit again. Yes it is a 3-floor walk-up, and there is no air conditioning, but with plenty of fans, sliding screen doors, an expansive wrap-around lanai for outdoor dining, watching sunsets and breaking waves, it's hard to picture a nicer spot. We only closed the glass sliders one evening when a tropical storm blew by. This an end unit with south and west exposure, really great views from third floor level. Third floor gives you the most privacy also. Being on the top floor, this unit had great high sloping ceilings which added significantly to the feeling of openness. There are two bedrooms, two bathrooms, washer/dryer, a perfectly adequate kitchen with all the standard expected appliances, and the refrigerator has a dynamite ice maker and there are lots of cold packs in the freezer. Good size combined dining and living room, but my wife and I took all our meals out to the dining table on the lanai. Main bedroom area has a king bed, view of the ocean and there are sliding shoji screens that can be closed to provide privacy from the living/dining area if so desired. This bed was very comfortable. Second bedroom has a queen size bed and the windows in this room face the mountains. There are plenty of closets, lots of hangers, beach toys like noodles, coolers for packing lunches for day trips, plenty of beach towels, bath linens, etc. Although we only used the TV to check storm forecasts the instructions were easy to understand and lots of channels available. Also CD player in the unit and wi-fi in the complex. It seemed plenty fast for the business correspondence I occasionally needed to do with my morning coffee. I brought binoculars but owner also has two pair in the unit. The KKSRC has three really nice tennis courts and a large pool which is about to undergo some refurbishment. We spent time there every day and it was delightful. The grounds are very well tended and the landscaping is quite mature and lovely. To give the condo buildings and the townhouses some additional privacy there is no long continuous walk along the water edge or rather the 20'+ high, broken lava cliff edge. You can walk along a couple of the buildings and then the paths end either in broken lava scree or dense low barrier hedges which you don't want to try to walk through. Being an older resort (35+ years) it was built quite close to the ocean edge which makes for a delightful and picturesque setting."

  • Pretty Amazing.....

"Having visited the Big Island over fifty times, my wife and I like to think of ourselves as experienced in what to do and where to stay. We’ve stayed at all the major resorts up and down the Kona Coast, as well as many vacation rentals throughout the island. This house has many amazing features, but he best one is probably the location. We would venture to stay that this may be the best overall location on the entire island - close enough to walk into the hub of Kailua-Kona, yet peaceful, quiet, and secluded beyond words. It’s located in Kona Bay Estates, a gated community with 24-hour patrolled security. Check it out on Google Earth. Sitting on the pool-deck with a glass of wine is escapism like no other - close enough to the ocean to feel the spray of waves crashing against the lava, daily pods of dolphins traversing the coastline, in-season humpback whales that sometimes breach so close that the sound is deafening. You even have your own personal lava “blowhole” next to the pool, putting on a show when the surf is up. Plus, the enjoyment of your own pool and spa makes one wonder why you’d ever want to leave the property. Upon entering the home, you immediately know you’re somewhere unique, with a courtyard that is a tropical paradise of lush greenery, a lava waterfall and a walkway over koi ponds with fish to greet you on every arrival. Talk about good “chi”. Moving on into the house you’ll find two huge master suites (one overlooking the Pacific), a homey koa-wood kitchen, large living and dining rooms. Most walls of the home fully retract, leaving one with the feeling of open-air living. Tradewinds off the ocean flow throughout the entire home. The kitchen is fully equipped - we like to take a couple of hours to prepare a gourmet dinner, usually fresh fish on the barbecue, or prepare breakfast (with mimosas!) to enjoy before some suntanning and chilling out around the pool. In a word, this place is special."

  • Excellent location and quality condo

"Gene and Charlie have thought of everything for the comfort of their guests. This condo was very comfortable for our 3 week stay. The furnishings were comfortable including the bed. The housekeeping staff do an amazing job in keeping this condo top notch! We found lots of extra sundry items, cooking spices and beach accessories for our use. The condo complex was quiet and the grounds and pool were well maintained. Parking is very convenient to the condo's stairwell. The condo overlooked the pool so it was easy to enjoy it everyday. The walk to town took approximately 20 minutes one way. We appreciated the use of a good washer and dryer along with the in room safe. The owners respond promptly to any questions via email. Thank you for sharing your home with us. We would recommend your condo to our family and friends. Mahalo Dale and Marina"
